Biocentrism

This is one of those books that makes your brain stretch, flex, and yes, even hurt at times. Written by Robert Lanza, MD, one of the most respected scientists in the world, and Bob Berman, world-renowned astronomer, together, these brainiacs attempt to prove that consciousness creates reality. In other words - reality doesn't exist outside of our minds, consciousness (life) creates the Universe. Thanks goodness for that difficult class on Perception I had in college, or this book might have been more difficult for me to understand. That class taught me, above all else, that what we see, what we hear, is actually being constructed in the brain. Light in varying wavelengths enters the pupil, reacts with the rods and cones and sends signals to the back of our brains where we actually see. Yes, we see everything in the back of our heads.

They argue that time and space are only constructs. Our way of making sense of events in our lives. Biocentrism involves the science of the brain, especially neurobiology. It also has some similarities to some of the tenets of Eastern Religions, however it is not a book about religion. Rather, it is a book on the science of who and what we are. Add to that the possibility that a single consciousness pervades everything (solipsism), and you have a book well worth reading.

This book would appeal to anyone interested in the science of consciousness, physics, biology, astronomy, and the nature of mankind. It is worth your time and energy. We are on the precipice of a great understanding that will rock our world as we know it. There is no doubt that these writers will be standing in the forefront.

Living The Field

I have signed up for an intensive online workshop that Lynne McTaggert has put together that covers a variety of topics she has researched for her books. She's authored The Field and The Intention Experiment, both bestsellers. I did a book review on The Intention Experiment, and I just ordered The Field. Her research into quantum physics is extensive.

She states that the condensed lessons are a bridge between new science and Spirit. Of course, that is subjective. One has to go with what resonates and feels right. But so far I have found Lesson #1 interesting and well-written. Although I don't necessarily advocate her beliefs, I find her writing impressive and her sources compelling.

You can also get it in audio book.

For $4 per month you get one lesson. Each of these lessons are extensive. I find that I read parts at a time, as the material is dense. Often I need to go back and reread. I can see why you only get one lesson per month. I thought the fee nominal considering the content. If you are interested, here are the first three lessons:

Lesson 1:
- The Secrets of Healing (part 1): how to begin
- How bio-resonance works
- Using sound as a healing therapy
- The truth about the pineal gland
- A healer reveals how she heals
- Using intention to shape the future
- Learning how to channel

Lesson 2
- Everything you wanted to know about the Zero Point Field - by the pioneering scientist who helped discover it
- The Secrets of Healing (part 2): using the pulse
- How the Vedas provide the secret key to healing sounds
- Tuning in to the Earth's magnetic field
- What makes an intention strong?
 - Finding your own sacred space
- Is consciousness eternal?

Lesson 3
- The science behind altering mass
- How our molecules 'talk' to each other
- The Secrets of Healing (part 3): Using the breath
- Medical breakthroughs from behind the Iron Curtain
- The ancient sounds used for healing
- Using the earth's rhythms to tune in
- How we affect machines
- The power of the collective intention
- Near-Death Experiences: what they can teach us

You can sign up here. If you do, please let me know what you think.

Holographic Universe

As I have mentioned before, I will post on a book I've finished reading if I think it might be of value to others. The book that I have just finished is Holographic Universe by Michael Talbot. It was published in 1991, and was the third book by this incredible writer and seeker. Michael Talbot died not long after publication, in 1992, of leukemia.

The Holographic Universe is an extraordinary book. The main premise being that the universe is actually a giant hologram. The main architects of this scientific construct of reality is University of London physicist David Bohm, a protege of Einstein and world-renowned quantum physicist, and Karl Pribram, a neurophysiologist at Stanford University, and author of Languages of the Brain. They came to their conclusions differently and from completely different directions. And if they are correct - the universe as we know it is not at all what we believe it to be.

Talbot dove into many other mysteries as well. He took us along on a journey of exploration that involved healing, energy, near death experiences, out of body experiences, the construct of time, science, ufos, psychic phenomenon, and much more. But Dr. Stanislav Grof, in The Adventure of Self-Discovery explains it much better:

The new data are of such far-reaching relevance that they could revolutionize our understanding of the human psyche, of psychopathology, and of therapeutic process. Some of the observations transend in their significance the framework of psychology and psychiatry and represent a serious challenge to the current Newtonian-Cartesian paradigm of Western science. They could change drastically our image of human nature, of culture and history, and of reality.

This book would appeal to those who are interested in the above topics and/or a worldview that could answer many of the mysteries man has contemplated over millennium. I found it to be an interesting and face-paced read. Straddling my focus of science and spirit, it was hard to put down.

If you would like to watch (two) ten minute videos on U-Tube, go here and here. Or to hear Talbot, himself, explain this theory go here.

Drawn by Intention?

I just started reading The Intention Experiment by Lynne McTaggart. This is an amazing book. Suggested by more than one of you, it's clear that you are way ahead of me on this topic. Or is it that we are drawn to each other based on intention? Anyway...

I've already mentioned in an earlier post that I have one foot in science and one in spirit. This has always been the way for me. And this book brings science, especially quantum physics, and spirit together seamlessly. I've just started the book, but wanted to share one amazing experiment:

"Animals themselves proved capable of acts of effective intention. In one ingenious study by Rene' Peoc'h of the Foundation ODIER in Nantes, France, a robotic "mother hen," constructed from a movable random-event generator, was "imprinted" on a group of baby chicks soon after birth. The robot was placed outside the chicks' cage, where it moved around freely, as its path was tracked and recorded. Eventually, it was clear that the robot was moving toward the chicks two and a half times more often than it would ordinarily; the "inferred intention" of the chicks - their desire to be close to their mother - appeared to affect the robot, drawing it closer to the cage. Over eighty similar studies, in which a lighted candle was placed on a movable REG, baby chicks kept in the dark, finding the light comforting, managed to influence the robot to spend more time than normal in the vicinity of their cages."

This is fascinating! This means animals may have an ability to affect their world. If the chicks tiny brains can do this, can you imagine what ours can do? Luckily we have scientists all over the world working on consciousness and intention.

We know through quantum physics that at the subatomic level all matter is made of the same "stuff", from rocks to humans. What's more, they've discovered that subatomic matter appears to be involved in a continual exchange of information, causing it to change and refine.

So if animals can manipulate their world through intention, and they now think all things are connected - um, here's a thought - should we be eating them?

Just saying.
