View From A Window

Today is a rainy spring day in the Sierras. My husband is off to Sacramento to meet with my brother on a project, and I am taking the time to just look out the window. The little creek is running high as the snow melts from the higher elevations. This runoff will go directly to the Lake. Do you have a window that you look out? This perch is where I read and think about things. What about you? Care to share a view from your window?

That is a beautiful view! Very peaceful. My view is farmland, stream and miniature horses and donkeys. Peace.

Oh wow! That's so gorgeous. My view is a trimmed down Crate Myrtle tree with tiny sparrows nesting. I try to ignore the concrete and the rows of cars. I've tweaked my view with wind chimes and Aloe Vera to heighten the natural vibes.
I enjoy stopping by your blog, and I appreciate your gratitude.

My front yard view is a few trees and a long driveway surrounded by trees.

My back yard is more trees.

I have a monster Oak in the back full of squirrely rats in fur coats. Very funny guys. Yours is indeed gorgeous, go put some socks on you're making me cold.

I am currently at my daughter's apartment, (she's just had a baby daughter) and outside the window is a big tree full of birds, the sun's out and my new granddaughter is snoozing after a good feed.

Your scenery is gorgeous.

Butternut - I love the pics from your little farm. And the little donkeys sound so cute. I am really enjoying your little boy's blog. Very sweet and cute.

Phoebe - I love watching nesting birds! They work so hard - usually male and female - to build the nest and feed their young. We were fortunate enough to watch the whole process in a lilac tree at our last house. I like how you tweaked your view with the plant and wind chimes - very creative.

JC - Love trees. Especially tree-lined driveways.

Verily - I've been watching the squirrels today, too. And come to think of it - my feet are cold! LOL

Elizabeth - Your view sounds wonderful inside and out! Congratulations!!

You are very fortunate to be surrounded but such a serene environment...I get to look across the street at a high-rise building...amazing how late you can look across and still see people working away at their desk (it's an office building). The fire station is one block away, and I have the priviledge of hearing their sirens constantly, doesn't bother me though--I still sleep with the windows open! :)

A row of hemlocks line the side of my yard. We've added a couple birdhouses to the higher branches, and love watching the busy-ness of the birds that live there.

Beautiful...I think I'll borrow yours, and sit here for a while.

Sometimes sitting by the window and just observing makes us see better. Does that make sense? I took this photo in March, but it's still the same view out my window from my favourite lazy-boy chair!
Chickadee Feeding

Kay - I am very blessed to live in such a beautiful area, but I have to admit, I have always wanted to live in a high-rise building in a big city. I have had many dreams about it.

Breeze - Construction zones always turn into something else, usually much nicer.

Joanne - Oh, I love birdhouses! Is there anything better than watching these industrious little critters?

Sniffles - Come on over - we'll have some tea!

Rain - I do know what you mean, and that little chickadee is adorable. Is that feeder right outside your window? I'm still waiting to have my husband put ours up.

Your view is gorgeous...I stopped by your blog for the first time today and enjoy what I found here :) I moved to Ontario 8 month ago and do not really have my own place at the moment. I am a live in nanny, so I live at my employers house...but I can't complain about the view since they have a wonderful lake behind the house...I enjoy it every day :)

Great view! Yes, I, too, sit at my kitchen table, at my computer writing, reading, working while I look at my window at my deck watching birds at the bird feeder and the beautiful lake in our back yard. I do have to leave this spot periodically for household chores and to the bathroom. Even when I do yoga in the morning, I can look out at this same view. Makes a difference, doesn't it?

Hi LOL, yup! right outside one of the windows beside my porch swing. I made it actually, it's an old plastic cola bottle. I get so many varieties of birds feeding from there, even some little brown squirrels manage to perch themselves on it! The funniest thing I saw was a really large mourning dove feeding, I thought she'd tip over for sure.

You have a wonderful outlook, Lover of Life. When I look out of my window, I see a grassy bank with trees on top of it. I love to watch the cardinal birds flitting about. At the moment they are feeding their young, which is very sweet to watch. The local cats have a great time running up and down the bank too.
You are fortunate to have water to watch.
Blessings, Star

oh what a lovely view!! tahoe is just heavenly....sigh...

my view is outside my bedroom window where I watch my bird feeders from my bed...I have one hummer feeder, 2 regulars and one long goldfinch feeder...the antics are so fun to wake up and drink my morning tea to, on a sunny morning, watching them all frolic...

what a wonderful idea to ask!

What a beautiful view you are able to provide to your eyes. When I do look outside I see: a seven floor building (living-room) and the back yard of another seven floor building (kitchen)- therefore you may imagen how much joy you provided me by sharing your 'window'.

I used to have a view of San Francisco, the bay and the Golden Gate Bridge. Now I have a quarter mile of marsh leading to a river. Not bad, but still second place!!

Hey Lol! I will post my view for you. :)

RE: Your response to Kay...Your view is beautiful and serene but I, like you have always wanted to live in the middle of a bustling city in a high rise myself. I always said if I was ever single and had no one but myself to satisfy a downtown condo would be mine. :-)

Nikina - Thanks for stopping by - congrats on your new home and view.

Nina - Your view sounds amazing. A lake in the backyard? How lovely is that!

Rain - You feeder out of a coke bottle is a great idea. Nothing like reduce, reuse, and recycle!

Star - Sounds like your view is not too shabby, as well. Watching wildlife is soothing to the soul, I think.

linda - How nice that the first thing you see in the morning is the feeder!

Mo'ikeha - I'm glad you enjoyed my view but I always think of your swims in the sea. What must that be like - to just jump in the sea and start swimming...?

Tommy - I have a little painting I bought from a sidewalk vendor in SF one time, that has that exact view from a window! A marsh and river isn't too bad, though.

Nat - On my way...

Gemel - We bought the place for the stream and the view from the window, so yes, it feels like a little slice of heaven.

luksky - i have had dreams about living like that my whole life - but so far, it hasn't happened. Maybe in the future?

What a gorgeous photo!

Right now I am looking at the Douglas fir trees outside my treehouse. Just beside them are four Cherry trees just in full bloom. Occasionally the raccoons will sit in the fir trees and smile back at me, like the Cheshire cat in Alice in Wonderland.

Looking out your window, I can almost smell the air. I love that perpetual pine tree smell ... at least that's what Tahoe used to smell like. Does it still?

Out my window at the moment are pink and white azaleas and lots of brand new green leaves on the trees. The sidewalks are streaked with the pollen that was washed out of the air during todays quick rainshowers. Birds are going nuts and the bees are buzzing.

Happy May Day from Washington DC!

Nancy said...

Jo - Your view sounds beautiful and I can just see the little raccoons smiling back. I always think of your tree-house home and how nice that must be. My view is a similar but so far no raccoons!

Reya - Yes, that smell is really unique to Tahoe. We revel in it each time we come back - sort of earthy, thin, piney, cool.
I can see your street from your description. The pollen, birds and bees - spring has sprung!

Dear Lover of Life,
how lucky you are to live in such a fantastic place. My view is just buildings and cars and cars!

Beautiful view there in the Sierra rain. We have rain here tonight and so tomorrow my view of our three giant Sequoias will show their bark to be the deepest red, full of water drunk in the dark.

The view from my window is of a road, winding out of sight, between trees. I love to watch the occasional car or pedestrian walk by and disappear round the bend. I wonder where they're going.

I'm an 'empty nester' too. When the last of my brood left home I started to write. Two years have passed and my first book in a series of crime thrillers is published next month. I still have my job (teacher) and in many ways life is the same, but inwardly I've totally reinvented myself. Over the summer I'll be visiting around 30 venues, bookstores, libraries, etc - giving talks and signing books. I'm looking forward to being "the author" before I go back to school in September.

Please visit my blog and read about my 'second half' experience. If you read crime fiction, you're very welcome to join in my Virtual Book Launch next month.

(unaable to write name) - the little puddles that the birds are playing in sound very sweet - I hope the grass grows.

Lydia - Your description of the trees was wonderful! We just went through the Redwoods and so I have the picture you painted. Thanks.

Leigh - Your view sounds very pretty and I loved how you wonder where the people are going. Yes, I will visit! Thank you.

Chic - Thanks - you too.

I have a beautiful deck overlooking a forest in my backyard. I keep lots of potted flowers out there. I've posted pictures of it before, several times. It's raining today, and it's just as pretty in the rain as the sun. I feel blessed to have this much land to call my own.
