A Condo Under Our Condo

I wonder who is living here. We just found this little condo, complete with upstairs and downstairs. Just like ours. Little bits and pieces of building material were borrowed - including insulation, wood, and even a nail. Obviously our remodeling sparked some creative energy in the rodent world, and they decided to build right below our deck.

If you want to read a story that will make your day - go here. We all need to see the world as a place for all creatures, and this story made me happy in a way that remains long after reading it.

Isn't it incredible how handy animals are - they don't even have opposable thumbs! Very cool. I just hope they aren't BIG rodents. You know what I'm talking about.

BTW I had to postpone Star Trek but everyone who has seen it really loved it. I'm going next Saturday. Can't wait!

Let us know who is living there.

We have had possums under our city house for years. Always fun to see the little ones.

You have some very industrious neighbors there. It's amazing how the animals work in their environment. Great raccoon story, so glad the little ones were saved!

I never fail to be amazed by the animal world. Animals are so clever. Amazing what can be done without professional tuition!

That's really cute! I've seen a few condos in the woods too. Oh thanks for the link too, what a beautiful story about the raccoons! We have them here, but they don't go near the garbage ever. They usually feed on discarded bird seed, since most of the residents have a lot of bird feeders out. I had a pair the other night looking into my window at about 9pm, it scared me but it was so cute! As soon as I looked at them, they scurried off.

Its good to keep in mind that our actions influence other living things on the planet. Truly, we are not alone.

I'm so glad you see this little den as a positive thing! It broke my heart when my mother executed a baby opossum under her home...
They have been here longer than we have.
