Intention Board

In the spirit of living my best life, I have once again designed an Intention Board. An Intention Board is nothing more than an area that you set aside that displays snippets of what you would like to see manifest in your life. My belief is that thoughts are energy, and when you put energy out into the world, it should be of the quality that you would like it to be. An "aware" energy, if you will.

So I am sharing my Intention Board with my husband, who has never done such a thing before. New territory for my very grounded, nothing but the facts, kind of guy. You can see his side on the right. He doesn't have anything on his side yet, other than that cute vase I found on vacation and some fresh flowers. I think he's waiting to see how I do mine, so he can use it as a template - although he would argue that point.

The bollo ties were his fathers. He passed away about a month or so ago.

My last Intention Board was just a cork board that was in our study in our last house. I had taken a picture of our house and wrote SOLD across it in red marker. It sold. The only one in the neighborhood.

I think it helps to put the board up and then look at it for a day or two and really think about what you want to happen in your life. Find a picture, or saying, that represents that intention. Think about what that sentence or picture means to you as you put it on the board. Then forget it! Just let it go...

Tell the old man to get with it! I am just like him, but am a firm believer in the realization of intentions! Please pass along my best wishes to him, and to you too! Good post, and GREAT idea!

Wonderful idea. I agree with "saying makes it so". I needed help today, probably will tomorrow too. Thank you so very much.

It's pretty too. Yes, if you don't plan the trip, you'll never reach the destination...

My entire life is an intention board! :-o

I have reminders everywhere around me of what I want in life. In my case, I feel like it's a reminder to stay on track and don't stray too far either. For example, I'd LOVE to buy a kick-butt pair of hiking boots for this summer, but I'd rather save that money to gas the car on my way to PEI. All I have to do is look at my brochures of PEI that I have all over the living room and I get grounded again!

I am quite impressed with this idea and the fact that you are sharing the board with your husband. The bolo ties - priceless.
I do 'get it" that we need to put in front of us the things that we intend - we love - we are inspired by - that affirm our desires for our lives.
This is a branch off of the decluttering wisdom of Peter Walsh who has us ask ourselves why we allow the things we love most to get lost in the multitude of things we have organized in a closet. His book title "It's All Too Much" says it.
I may try this same thing, including sharing it with Bob.
Thanks for the Pictures and Idea.

What a positive idea! Sometimes it's so easy to lose our intentions in the detritus of everyday living, so it's nice to have that visual reminding us gently of our desires.

Good idea. I do have a board up but it isn't as fancy as yours. Now I'm looking at it and thinking it could look a whole lot better!
There is an award for you on my Blog.
Blessings, Star

I have friends that have done this and it's such a great idea! Did you make the chalk/magnet board? I really like it!

Expat - Thank you so much, I will.

Verily - You're welcome. I hope all is well.

Mzz - So true.

Rain - You have it right - your intention board is your living room!

Deb - Thanks for the tip for the book by Peter Walsh.

Joanne - So true, we have so much going on that what we really want for our lives sometimes gets lost.

miz Peaches - Have fun!

Star - Thanks, and good luck with your board.

Lindz - No, I found this one in a little local shop, marked down. I was so pleased because it brings out the little bit of green in the chair in front of it. But I was thinking you could easily find cork board and then paint an old frame - or make your own. I think it's something to have fun with.

I'm with you ..in some ways my blog also invokes my intentions. I do love your board and I think I need to get one happening too!

My dear Hub has one on his computer, called a mind movie. It goes on a loop all day and subliminally aids him in his manifestation of things he wants to acheive. I use cards, pictures etc next to my bed, so it is first and last thing I see each day.

Love to you.xx♥

What a fun way to set goals!!!! I love the idea of setting up an inspirational board! I've got a place in my kitchen...it's gotten a little cluttered...Time to pair he dreams down to just a few, I guess :-)Have a great weekend!

"What a great idea" I thought as I looked up at my old-fashioned bulletin board. I've got a bit of de-cluttering and cleaning up before I can even think about creating my intentions. But, you are my inspiration - I'm going to do it!

What a lovely idea :) I think I should make one too :)
Have a Happy Weekend!

What a wonderful idea! I have a corner that is similar but is more of an altar, for meditating and when I need a quiet place, it's ever changing.

I think if I made a board like you did, my husbands side would look just like your husbands! let us know if he starts to add to it, I'll be encourged!

A really great idea! Your intention board is beautiful, and the-other-half of it there in the-second-half cracks me up. But blank is better than clutter.....and that, my friend, would be one of the notes I'd put on my intention board! (I might do this as soon as I clear the room upstairs that is supposed to be my yoga/project room.....:(

I quite like this ideaa.. and may just do it. My first snippet might have to be that of a cork board because I'll need to get one to start. ;)

Good idea! Thanks!

Great idea.

The closest I come is the mirror in my closet, where I have several affirmations posted. I look at them each day when I'm picking out my clothes. No one sees it but me.

Mikayla - Have fun!

Naturegirl - It's fun to do.

Sarah - I was thinking you could even take an old frame and put batting and fabric over it to match something in the room...

Natalie - Your Hubby has a great idea - put it on the computer.

Chic - Hope you have a great weekend, too.

Sniffles - Have fun with it.

Andrea - We often have the board somewhere in our house, time to dig it out and give it a new mission.

Lori - Your alter is very similar. (I love the thought of an alter - )

asweetcakes - Let us know how it goes.

Lydia - I DO have a little sentence on my side that says "Clutter Control" :-)

Hilary - You're so creative, I'll bet yours will be pretty.

Minka - Hi, thanks for stopping by.

Kathy G - Yep, sounds like yours is in your closet!

Nancy said...

Mrs. - Have fun with it!

California - Off to see what you're up to...

When we found the country house and decided to submit a bid (we had lost out on two previous places and this new one already had one bid ready to be presented), Husband wrote the address on a piece of paper and put it in his wallet. We got the house.

Nancy said...

Jenin - Have fun with this.

Ellen - I think it works. Congrats on the country house - it just sounds lovely.

great idea!

I've done anything as full-fledged as this, but when things start to get a bit overwhelming -and if my mind is still clear enough- I do put together "to do lists" and pin them to the wall in front of my desk as a reminder of what needs to be done. I haven't been able to bring myself to do this in a year or two, but I have been seriously thinking about it recently and doing something more elaborate with an empty corkboard I have.
This is great for inspiration, thanks! :o)

I'm impressed by how neat and orderly your intention board is. I tend to just thumb tack in all things that appeal to me. Time to declutter and clear up the energy.

My intention board is in my mind. I try to remind myself to live in the here and now, to be mindful of the present-to live in an attitude of prayer in gratitude and thankfulness towards God and all He has done and given me.

Philippians 4:4-8 has helped me with my intentions.

Erika C. said...

Yes, this is a great idea. I made an intention poster but the board looks like it is easier to move things around on.

I like your photos of areas around your house that are your own.

Come see my blog some time: eachdayisapresent.blogspot.com

I am just getting started and learning how to do it.

warmly,
Erika

I am recoving from surgery and when I came upon this post, I realized that my intention board is outdated. During my time of suffering I was transformed in so many ways and I no longer want the same things from life although the love is the same. Thanks for sharing your intention board. This would be a good project as I recover. I hope you are having a lovely day.
