Stew Update #2

So last night I cooked what I thought was the final stew. I included almost all, yes all, of your suggestions. And I think it was "the stew". But it seems my husband is saying it is not the final stew due to the dumplings (new addition, and he hates all new additions of most things), soaking up too much of the liquid. Therefore he is insisting I go back, and do the same stew without the dumplings, before he gives the final thumbs up.

I'm a little worried because it is starting to warm up. I mean how long into the spring do you really want to eat stew? ?

More to follow...

Ever since I got my slow cooker a few years back, I can eat stew ALL THE TIME!!! Although I agree, on really hot days, I prefer a cold meal! Hey I like dumplings!!!

Latvians taught me to love dumplings. Dump 'em in there, and keep eating. They are good all year. I agree with Rain. In Texas, chili is a year-round thing. Keep it going! The blogs, too....

HAH! Your hubby sounds a lot like mine! Not open to much change. I made stew yesterday in the crock pot and Hubby said it was delicious. I don't make Stew, Chili or soup in the summer. I am not big on dumplin's either.

As a professional cook, I feel your pain. My husband constantly asks me "what happened to that other way you cooked (insert food here)... I won't give you any more stew recipes, hints or tips. Best of luck. The dumplings looked delicious.

I LOVE dumplings in stew, but I never make them because they tend not to reheat so well, and with only two of us in the house now we can eat for several days on a pot :-)

I wouldn't make stew in the middle of the blazing summer, but it's still "shoulder season" in St. Louis, and it would be very appropriate for dinner right now.

Well a stew that looks as delicious as the one in your photo I'd eat all year long! Enjoy.

I have a stew recipe that will put your husband into ... stew heaven. And you don't serve it with dumplings, you serve it with cheese biscuits, with lots of aged cheddar cheese melting in them, with real butter and a glass of merlot. Yum!

I must admit, though, the stew in your photo looks pretty darn good, and I love dumplings.

I could easily alternate between eating stew and having bbq'd something. That one in particular looks yummy.

I love stew, I still have them in spring, in fact year round! Stews are the ultimate comfort food, if you ask me. Yummy!
Btw, speaking of comfort, thanks LOL, for all your good advice and loving care over the last few days.

Stew is yummy all year, as long as your AC is on! I think you can eat more of it if you leave the dumplings out...just a thought. It looks delish!!!
