Heading Out - Looking for Adventure (and whatever comes our way!)

There has been several posts about people heading out and coming back. I guess spring is the time to flap our wings a bit, and see what's out there. Here are a couple of snapshots of the beautiful Redwood Forest in Northern California, and of course, the magnificent Pacific Ocean. Hope you are enjoying spring wherever you happen to be.

Your photos have definitely decided our weekend. We are taking the two dogs to the beach down there by Devil's Punchbowl, with dinner afterward at Tidal Raves in Depoe Bay (I hope you found that restaurant during one of your trips to the Oregon coast).

Thanks for your fun comment at my blog. I replied but can't expect that you'll be back to read....so wanted to mention that I left a much longer comment after your post titled Midlife Shuffle that describes yet more similarities.

Travel safely; say hello to Peter Fonda if you chance to see him on the road.

Fabulous trees!!! The redwoods are one of the few "famous" trees I have yet to see! We never got that far south when I was visiting the NW coast (after the Rockies, Vancouver, Victoria, Seattle...), nor that far north when I was in S. California (got there via several weeks of camping in the 4 corners area, then headed over to L.A. to take my grandmother to visit her 91 yr-old uncle and we went to see the Sequoias).

I've seen the "fattest" tree in the world (the Tule, a tree in Oaxaca Mexico, don't remember the species), the "oldest" trees the Bristlecones (creepy things!), and the "largest" (in volume) the Sequoias (most impressive trees I've ever seen). But I'm still missing the "tallest", the Redwoods! I guess I'll have to find time+money to head back over there! :p

Seeing New York was great but I could definitely plop myself down on the beach for a few days!

I am so homesick for the West Coast. I would like to be in northern CA right now heading up Hwy 1 to Puget Sound where my cousin lives.

I hear it's triple digits in LA today. That gives me pause.

Love all these luscious pictures, and your thoughts as well. Yes I do think this meltdown offers us an opportunity to change.

We Americans live way above the level that is possible to support, use way too many natural resources, etc. So in a certain sense every one of us did contribute to the meltdown. Now we can change. We really can.

Pema Chodron is one of my heroes, she is. What a baddass! When Things Fall Apart is a favorite but I also really love The Places That Scare You.

Enjoy your drive!

Of course you know I've got that song in my head now! What great walking places ... that beach, amazing, and that road through the trees, how magical.

Are you in my neighborhood?! Sending out welcome vibes and enjoy! If you're here this week, you picked a good one... sun's shining, buds a-blooming!

And by the way, I haven't posted that recipe for the red sauce yet, but I am working on it so please come visit me again-- since you're in town. :-)

I quoted Pema in my last post too. she's such a clear and beautiful voice... just what we need as our world creaks open to these truths.

I love seeing your shots of the Pacific Coast - I live on the Atlantic Coast and if I ever get the courage to take such a long airplane ride I'll get out that way. It looks beautiful, thank you for sharing!

Kind of reminds me of a drive I took a few years back from Kelowna, BC down to Winthrop, Washington. The trees have a way of making you feel really, really small. Nice pics.

I visited this The Redwood Forest and the Northern Coast of California about 6 years ago. I loved standing inside one of the trees--make me feel small, which I liked as I am almost 6 feet tall. Nice pictures--thanks for posting them.
