Spring at 6500

I think spring has arrived here at 6,500 feet. It may not be lush yet, but there are certainly signs. I always love to visit blogs that show me pictures of what it is like where they live at different times of the year. So I thought you might like to see what early spring looks like at Lake Tahoe.

We took a walk that winds us around the golf course and homes that are only used for a certain part of the year. Where I live, only 30% of the people live here year-round. I guess they don't like to shovel snow. Anyway, it's quiet right now, but soon it will be bustling with tourists and the people who are only here for parts of the year.

Lucy was having a ball running on the golf course. But she will only be able to do that for a few more walks. We could already see someone preparing the course for the summer, and she is not welcome when the little golf carts start winding their way around. As you can see she is running at full tilt. We keep a close eye on her because if she hits us running like that there is no doubt you are either going down or breaking something. We don't call her Hulk Lucy for nothing. One time I was talking with a plumber in my kitchen in Minnesota, I was on one side of a high counter and he on the other. That house was large with a big open floor plan. Lucy went into "crazy lab mode" which is running as fast as she could around and around the room. She was able to get some speed up when she hit me right behind the knees. One minute I was talking to the plumber and the next I was looking up, red faced, as he peered over the counter to see if I was okay!

You can see that the snow is fighting to keep hold on the green grass that has been buried, just waiting to take it's turn. I love the shadows on the snow and grass from the tree branches not yet in bloom.

I'm trying to visit everyone's blog that left messages. Thanks so much for your visits to mine. Have a great day!

I live in Grass Valley....we are blossoming all over now. Of course, the winter snow ruined some of my plants this year...but all is looking good! I love it up there!!!

I live in Canada and contrary to popular belief we don't have snow in April usually...this year...it started two days ago and we have another day of it tomorrow..then it shall all melt away quickly. I hear it's good for the farmer's fields so that's good!

Three days ago I was looking at the daffodils popping up all over, today they are snow covered...sigh

There are so many time zones in our world; I find it fascinating to see spring (along with all the other seasons) look differently in different parts of our ever changing planet. Gorgeous photos.

What beautiful pics! Makes me homesick, even though I moved away from Tahoe in 1983.

I remember vividly the tourist season(s) both summer and winter. They used to refer to spring and fall as "shoulder" seasons when I lived there.

Happy spring!

I know what it's like to live in a "seasonal" location. And I actually miss it! The part of Alicante I live in is to the north, at the limits of the city, and is 100% beach area (parts rocky, other part long sandy beach). Up until 10 years ago this whole area was ~90% second homes. People coming for Easter, the summer and many weekends between Easter and Halloween (many of the people with 2nd homes here have their 1st one just 1/2h away, downtown. It's an Alicante tradition). We used to go for a drive along the beach in the evening and not see a single light in the buildings. We the increase in tourism and the construction boom, well this is just a regular city neighbourhood now, with more schools, lots more traffic and lots more noise. Still calmer in winter than summer (can take the dog to the beach in winter, but not in summer), but I miss the "old" days.

I've been meaning to take pictures of Alicante Spring for a while too! If I don't hurry up though it will be over! Spring and Fall are barely noticeable stops between winter and summer here...

What beautiful photos....I love Lake Tahoe. I'm reading a non-fiction book right now about the 1982(?) avalanche that happened at Alpine Meadows. Avalanche notwithstanding, I do miss skiing at Tahoe every year!

Hi Love, Oh thank you for the photos! It's great to see more of your neighborhood. Is there a trail that goes all the way around the lake? I think I remember a trail race, maybe an adventure race that is in Tahoe. I LOVE LUcY! and I really like your sidebar♥

I grew up by a lake in southern Ontario where the resident situation was similar. Summers were fun but I always preferred it when the part timers and picnickers were gone. There was a private golf course a couple of fields away with apple trees in between.. a favorite spot to walk or just sit and daydream. I didn't call it meditation then :-)

I agree. I enjoy seeing the seasons in different parts of the world. Was happily surprised to see fall arriving in New Zealand the other day.

If you get a minute to visit me, scroll down a few posts and you will see a picture of spring time in the flatlands. Well, that was before Mother Nature brought us two more snow falls.

It certainly looks lovely in Lake Tahoe.

What beautiful scenery and a beautiful dog you have! You must have so much fun with her. We have two cats and as much as I love them, they are not much for playing outside, they're the more curl up on your lap type of personalities.

I have a black lab that loves the golf course too. It is awesome to see them so happy, especially when they get to the holes that have ponds. The golfers might hate the ponds but at least some find them as the best part on the golf course.(our dogs) :)

I live in Michigan and I'm new to blogging, just started and have no idea what I'm doing. I stumbled onto your blog and have found it to be so exciting and interesting. There was no way I could read all the comments tonight. I don't know how to "follow your blog". Please let me know. I love all of your pix's. I'm still in the early stages of learning this whole "blogging" thing.

What kind of dog is Lucy? She looks exactly like my Princess, who is a Black lab mix.

This is my first time on your blog but it won't be my last. Great content!

What a beautiful place you live in! i'm currently living in Cambridge, England and it is FLAT. Mind you, if you will move to East Anglia and the Fen Country, what can you expect!
i was born in hills and i gravitate to them usually; this was an econimic and social move.
i too came looking here from Blogs of Note, you must have had thousands of hits since then! It must be slightly overwhelming? You do have a nice blog though :D
i must visit mine more often...

p.s. the James of 'Lovejames' is James Marsters; i'm a HUGE fan
