Hot Town - Summer In The City

Whew, I guess summer is finally here. It's supposed to be 93 today. I don't know about the rest of you, but all I want to do is lay next to the lake and read novels. I haven't read much of anything of any real value for some time now. But maybe that's what summer is all about - a time to soak up some sun and let your mind wander.

As for me, it's Lake Tahoe time. Cool blue water beckons. The fact that it's icy cold and I will probably only walk out to my waist for another few weeks has not deterred my determination to eventually make the final dive and swim. It's the first one of the season that's always the hardest.

Have a great weekend, everyone!

I much prefer a lake or a river or even the ocean to a pool. went swimming at Lake Mead once. the part in the water was freezing and the part not was boiling. oddly, there was no relief. you were dry and hot the instant you were out of the water.

Gorgeous photo. Is that Tahoe?

It's been a long time since I've read anything by a lake (the perfect spot). Enjoy Tahoe--it is magnificent!

I'll be by a lake, come Monday. Enjoy your reading and dipping time.

I would love to dive in, no matter the temperature. This is more appealing than the giant haboob (dust storm) we have this week in Phoenix.

Have a great weekend Nancy.

The lake photo is lovely. I love Tahoe. Haven't been there in YEARS. We always went to ski so I never went in summer, which is a shame.

We were out on a lake yesterday. Air temp 83, water temp probably mid 70. Not sure. We have a ski boat but it was just my husband and I and you need a 3rd to watch the skiier so we just motored around, anchored in a cover, swam, ate lunch and soaked up the sun.

I like what ellen says about Lake Mead. Sounds like quite an experience.

P.S. Just gave in & bought the hard cover of Steig Larsson's third novel in the trilogy "The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest". So far it's as compelling as the first two. What a shame he died. He's one hell of an intelligent writer. He doesn't dumb it down. I recommend them.

Hope you have a wonderful time at Lake Tahoe.
The closest I'll get to a lake is the swimming pool at our apartment. A nice refreshing spot on a hot day. (Today's not to bad; 30°C or 86°F.)

Oh that sounds so very good! We honeymooned in Tahoe and live in the Sacramento area, not too far!
Our temps have been over 100 recently and I love it as long as I can be near some water or air conditioning!

I remember the beauty of Lake Tahoe, although it's been a long time since I was there. Thanks for the reminder, and here's hoping you are able to actually get all the way in! :-)

Living in such a warm climate, it's so hard for me to realize that other parts of the U.S. are just now beginning to warm. It's been in the triple digits here since the beginning of May...today my car thermometer registerd 110!! Reading by the lake sounds heavenly...

Beautiful photo. Being next to the Adriatic Sea means we walk into swimmable water daily. It's lovely after so many years on the northeast and west coast of the USA.

If I lived there I would never leave its shores, what a absolutely divine piece of heaven...

Brian - Just so it is water.

Ellen - I have never been to Mead - and have lived in Nevada all of my life...

T- Yes!

ds - Time to find a lake and a good book, I'd say. :-)

Hilary - You, too!

Mila - I watched that on TV!! Wow! How weird was that??

California - It sounds like the perfect day with your hubby! Thanks for the book ideas. I wonder if they are downloadable? (I have about 20 just sitting on my I-Pad.)

Brenda Susan - Time for a trip to Tahoe!

DJan - I need your strength!

Shrinky - Not a chance! :-)

luksky - OMGob - I could not live in 110 degree temps! There is still snow in the mountains on the way up the mountain today. Unusual for almost mid-July.

Grandmother - I'll bet it's heaven!!

Gemel - I do love it. It's in my blood, I think.

Rob-bear - Pools are nice too! :-)
