Daughters, Moms & Shoes

My daughters and I are being careful about any excess, unneeded shopping lately. But about once a year we have to indulge a bit. Today was the day. We were just going to take back a jacket I bought, but hadn't worn. Several items later, we gathered in my daughter's bedroom to try on our treasures and give each other advice. What is it about getting new shoes that just makes a female happy? We wish it wasn't so, but most of us like new shoes. And a skirt to go with it. And maybe a cute tank? What about a light sweater/wrap/thingy? I guess some things are just they way they are...

So glad that you're back, Lover of Life! The graduation looked lovely!

Ah yes, shoes. I love shoes and own about 50 pairs. I weed them out yearly or they would take over my house. My favorite pair are my leopard ballet flats; my dancing shoes.

Ah, shoes... I used to have so many. Too many years working on a concrete floor I suppose. Now I can't wear anything pointy or too high. I'm heartbroken. People that have only known me for a few years refuse to believe that I was once the Stepford wife that grocery shopped in a dress and 6" heels! LOL

There is something about a pair of heels...I bought my first pair last year to go to a wedding. My friend forbid me from wearing my go-go boots.
I love my heels, but have weak ankles and so feel like I am in training, still, with heels.
Enjoy your day.

Hmmm... I never really got the fascination for shoes! They're just something to protect your feet, give you support... and it's getting harder and harder to find decent-looking COMFORTABLE pairs!

I always have trouble with sizes too... small but wide feet. sigh!

I always loved it when my daughters and I went shoe shopping. I made sure that I installed a love for cute shoes in them at a very early age!

There's a reason they say "Fashion before function." Fashion's fun!

I've never understood the female fascination with shoes. I own exactly 3 pairs of shoes - one pair of sneakers, one pair of dress shoes, and one pair of hiking boots.

Meanwhile my wife, who in all other ways is the most sensible and frugal and rational person I've ever known, has a closet full of 427 pairs of shoes, most of which have only been worn once....

How many pairs of shoes does a person need??? I just don't get it. :)

Those are the strangest shoes I've ever seen. I can't understand why anyone wouldn't love a new pair of shoes....guy, girl, whomever! Glad you're back in blogworld!

I have a thing for shoes. Although, the heels in my collection are getting lower and lower. This pair in your pic look like something my daughter would love!

Hi, my name is Jamaica, and I'm a shop-a-holic!

What shoes...and red at that! You'd never catch me in them, though!

The comments are great! I don't have a shoe-thang going on anymore! I used to though, when I was working, I had every heel imagineable! Even what I call my "'ho-heels" - black patent leather stilletos that were surprisingly easy to walk in! Now I just wear slippers in the house and rainboots or sneakers outdoors!

Hi, my name is The Good Cook and I'm a shoe-aholic. LOVE THEM. Shoes, boots, sandals, berkinstocks, flip-flops, slippers, sneakers.. you name it, if it goes on my feet I have it.

The best husband in the world can't understand why anyone would need more than one or two pair. But that's a guy thing.. and shoes are definitely a girl thing. Hope you bought a lovely pair!

Shoes are fun to shop for, as are purses, and the reason is because no matter what size your body is, or how toned or untoned, you will always find cute shoes and purses!

Sheesh! At least your husband only has a sock fetish! Whoops! Did I say that out loud! I do have to give it to the Lady's who walk in things like those; it's all I can do to not trip in my runners.

I like shopping I guess....I never used to until like a week ago when I got new "dark" clothes...just right to fit my personality.

i agree with you...once in a while we need to pamper ourselves...and shopping is one of them. i am happy to see mother and daughter going together.

I usually do my shopping online or most recently, my daughter's thrift store NodtoMod. The shoes...now that's a whole new can of worms. Can't get enough of them even if I don't wear them all. They make me feel so feminine in an otherwise masculine world I live in!

You're so right about women and shoes. I love trying them on and shopping for them!

Years ago when my husband and I put our toddler daughter's first pair of shoes on her, She jumped off the bed, danced around and shouted, "Shoes, shoes, shoe." She was overjoyed with wearing her first pair of shoes.

There's just something about women and shoes!

I think I saw Margot Fontaine wearing a pair like those.

In the great scheme of things and in this desparate economy, a bit of shopping to lift the spirits can't hurt. Most of us have cut back so much, but one can't cut out everything. Enjoy your shoes!

Only once a year???
My excuse for shopping quite frequently:

"If I'm shopping at thrift stores, everything is cheaper anyway. I can buy more!"

I think it is so cool you and your daughter indulge together.
My mom hates shopping so much, my big brother helped me pick out my prom dress because she didn't want to go.
So funny I think.
