Happy Father's Day

I have been blessed with the best husband and father for my children. He has been our "rock", as his girls carry on in their sometimes frantic and mysterious ways. He's always been the one to stay calm, except when our daughter pierced her nose (the first time.) By the time the second daughter did it, he didn't bat an eye. So he grows with us.

When I had a brain tumor, and half of my face was paralyzed after the surgery, he never once made me feel anything less than cherished.

He never spanked, ever. And rarely raised his voice to them, or me.

He has always been good at saving them when I just wanted to ....

He always cleaned the cat box, hamster habitats, dog & cat "messes", chased bugs, unclogged toilets, does the poop scoop...well you get the picture.

So happy Father's Day honey, you are the best!

And to all those Dad's out there that do everything they can to care for their family - hope you have a wonderful day, because you are so important to your family!

that is so sweet. you must love him very much. i didn't write about my husband today. I wrote about my younger son in one blog and referred to my father in another. I can't write much about Dad today. I'll just cry.

My dad died at 62, in 1979 -- so I don't think about him much any more. My son died in 2002 without ever becoming a father (or making me a grandmother). But I am blessed with my husband of 15 years who never fathered a child but treats me incredibly well. So, yes, I am blessed.

I also have a friend who has two brain tumors, one removed and the other to go next month. She is very scared, so I might send her to your blog here. Were you blogging then?

What a lovely tribute to your husband. He does sound like a stand out husband and dad. You too deserve credit. Behind every great man is a greater woman... Today I also paid tribute to a great man in my life. Your husband and my dad are amazing Memory Makers.

I think you have a keeper! Wish him Happy Father's Day from me too. :-)

I didn't know you had a brain tumor. Are you okay now?

Nancy said...

Jo - I am okay. It was 22 years ago and it wasn't cancer, just in a bad spot next to the brain stem. I lost my hearing on one side, one eye doesn't tear, and my face healed to a point. Not quite right. I hate having my picture taken because it always shows up as a grimace. Oh, well, I always look at as I'm still alive! I wrote about it in my post In The Moment. Thanks for caring and asking!

I like that picture of your husband. He does look very calm and kind.

I'm so sorry to hear about your brain tumor; glad that you have recovered from it, though.

Verily I go. said...

Ahh, Lover of Life, this is beautiful. I've been crying all over everywhere today too and you are beautiful. I see it all the time. xoxo

You have to love a man like that.
I lost over half my hair a few years ago (in patches). My husband offered to shave his head in spots. You can't ask for more support than that.

Now wait just one minute. You had a brain tumor? Is there a post in here somewhere about that experience? Are you willing to share the story? Wow.

I love the way so many bloggers are honoring their husbands as well as their fathers today. That is so right! And your hubby (I love that word) sounds fantastic. Bravo!

A great guy for a great lady! Now if you could just get him to take you out dancing! Maybe you could trade a motorcycle ride for a night out of dancing. lol

Okay, LOL, I looked through all your posts and could not find the one about your brain tumor. I looked twice, and decided to just give up.

If you wouldn't mind sending me the month and even the link, I will send it to my friend (if it turns out to be appropriate, that is).

Your blog is the firs that I have found it possible to have too many comments!!

Nice words. My husband cleans up all the gross stuff too. I kind of take it for granted until I hear other people talk and realize not every man does that! This is a beautiful photo and much more suitable for blowing up than the one with the poop bag! Do you live near all these places? It's my dream to live on or at least near the water.

You and your husband and your daughters are all intelligent, brilliant, and (from what I've read) ambitious people. You two are a powerful team and you created a wonderful family.
Happy Father's day to your husband.
