The Beauty of Babies

I feel so special. The young woman that lives next door occasionally (vacation home), has asked me to babysit her little tiny baby while she runs some errands. This sweet little peach is only three months old, and I met her the other day. Babies are almost of another world. You can see God in their innocence. Yet, when they are so new to the world, deep in their eyes you can almost see their power, as well. Their smile often reminds me of a soul that recognizes me, in a way. As if to say - Oh you, hi!

There have been times when I could be in the worst mood, and a baby will smile at me and it just seems to wash away the negativity, because I can't help but smile back. My daughter says my grandson (17 months) has taken to smiling and saying hi to everyone he meets in the grocery store. I'm sure some just ignore him, intent on what they are doing, but I hope he has the same effect that babies have on me - I hope he brightens someone's day that can see the beauty and innocence in a simple smile and greeting.

P.S. I wasn't very clear about the photo of the baby - it is taken from a website - I didn't think the "Mom" would want me to post a pic of her baby on the internet. :-)

Babies remind us of what's important, and what really matters don't they? And their quiet, calm and utter faith in those who care for them inspires! And you are so right!!! Only a Scrooge could fail to be touched by a baby's smile! Enjoy! ~Janine XO

There's something about a baby's smile that just warms me all over. This little girl is just adorable. How lucky you are to be able to spend some time with her, and how lucky her mom is to have a neighbor like you to rely on.

I love newborns, fresh out in the world, only hours old. They smell heavenly and they are so close to God, closer than they will ever be again til they die. I love to look in their eyes. Like you said, they are not of this world...yet. They bridge the veil.

Ellen, such poetic truth you speak. Almost brings tears to my eyes, because I think about when my daughter was a newborn and I felt those things you can put into words that I couldn't. Today her laughing and smiles touch me deeply. Nothing has ever been so profound.

I know exactly what you mean. I have taken this week off of work. I'm just staying home and watching my 4-month old grandson. Friends have asked where I was going on vacation. Absolutely nowhere! There is no place that I'd rather be than with this beautiful baby boy!

What a coincidence!

My mom says when I started talking I used to say Hi all the time too! And that once in the supermarket I got this guy in trouble because his wife was jealous 'cause she heard him talking with to someone with a female voice! :p

A friendly personality is always a good start to life!

What a happy face, shining such wonder on those around her. I love hearing small baby voices calling out "Hi" to passersby. Their intent is so true, one can't help but smile and wave in return. It's practically an automatic reflex. Enjoy!

Yes, another world. The power of those eyes and the person in there. I completely agree. Resistance is futile.

We have done it again. I was going to post a story about little Sonflower being really cute - especially at the supermarket. It often takes me two hours to get through the shopping, because he stops everyone to say" HAllO! Nice day?" Now little Haylie does it too, and it brings the shoppers to their knees. SO gorgeous. Your little neighbour is a real little sweetie, I could kiss her up too.xx♥

My favorite spot in the grocery is in line behind the baby! What a great way to spend a few minutes during an otherwise dreary chore...

Babies are the best! They have no concept of hatred or of being judgemental. Resentment and selfishness are foreign objects to them. They look at us as though they could see our soul. Maybe we should be learning from them!

Seven days a week of work, sometimes even until 21.00 o'clock - returning home to my son however washes away all what was before.
Wish you a nice time with the baby.
