Entertaining

We are finally settled enough in our new home to entertain. One of my very favorite things to do. Today a dear friend will arrive for about a week, followed by our daughter and grandson, followed by our youngest daughter. For all of you parents out there that live far from your children - I know you understand my excitement!

I found this very "cool" popsicle maker. My husband and I have tried freezing orange juice and they were wonderful. I'm hoping to make some really fun ones with my grandson. I splurged on the fast freeze maker because it will make the popsicle in 7-9 minutes - which is about the attention span of a toddler. (It will make up to 9 popsicles from a single freezing of the maker.) My thoughts are that he can help me make them, and then eat his hard work while he is still thinking about it. :-)

In the meantime my husband is enjoying my healthy experiments. I'm going to try grape juice tonight. Or how about blueberry lemon-verbena?

So glad you're settled in, at last Nancy. Lovely to hear you are enjoying the domesticity of making your own popsicles. I'm looking forward to hearing how the freezing session goes with your grandchild.
Blessings, Star

My daughter lives in NY and doesn't get home very often. I am always sooo excited when she comes for a visit! The popsicles sound yummy!

I like that idea for the grandchildren. They like to eat what they make. Smoothies are a great hit also.

I agree with Judy - a great idea Nancy! My husband is addicted to popsicles and "the Elliot" is coming to visit Grammy and Grandps (no that's not a typo!) in September. Now I'll have to go shopping.

i made popsicles for my own little ones - from everything i could think of - then for their little ones - and now, will be doing them for their little ones - i also used to put chunks of fresh fruit in them -

Sounds like some great times coming up! Enjoy! I always made popsicles for my kids, with fresh fruit and juice, in those Tupperware popsicle holders that Gypsy is talking about. Kids love them.

Well, after having read the last four posts of yours with the "moving" label, I am almost positive you are now in your lovely leased home in... Reno? Tahoe?

Sorry to be so behind the curve. I wish it were close enough for me to sample some of those popsicles and grands. But I trust that you will be showing me what I'm missing! :-)

Let us know how the popsicle making turns out. It might be a good idea for me to get one for my munchkins!

The popsicle (or pospickle, as my kids used to say) maker looks like fun! apparently you're supposed to put a bit of jello powder in the mix to stop them from dripping.
did I know this when I needed to? No. will I try it if I EVER get grandkids? Yes!

My mother in law gave us a popsicle maker that makes popsicles that come out in the shape of sail boats. Fun and thoughtful since we like to sail!

Glad you are settling in.

In Germany you bring someone bread and salt when they move to a new place so I am sending virtual bread and salt for good luck. My mom is German.

warmly,

Erika

The popsicle maker looks fun. And so nice to hear you're settled and the little ones on the way...after they're gone...you'll need to maybe put some margarita mix in those popsicles! Just the mere word toddler sends me into a panic....but a good panic!
Hope your weekend is filled with laughter, love, and good friends. xo

OH man making popsicles is like childhood incarnate. We used to make OJ popsicles. It was like the simplest most entertaining thing in the world. God I love those. If I had more than just beer in my fridge I would make some!

My kids aren't so little anymore and they still love popsicle treats.

So glad to hear that you are getting comfortable in your new space.
