Hawthorne Street Fair

My daughter and her husband live just a few blocks from Hawthorne, the southeast part of Portland. It's a lively street, with shops ranging from vintage clothes to ones that sell bizarre jewelry and red-feather wings for when you need that special touch. It has that hipster feel, but also attracts people like myself and every other myriad group. Lots of bicycles and families on this day. We came home with new "shopper" type bags for the girls, and earrings for my very cool son-in-law that has a reputation to upkeep as a snowboard rep. All in all a great day, finished off with shots of tequila at the next door neighbors, and pot-lock dinner at our house.

It's fun to visit Portland, and it's never boring! But I'm heading back to the mountains tomorrow. I will look forward to my own internet connection, as the one here has been booting me off all day. I have tried to post this since this morning.

Speaking of which, have you ever wondered what is going on when you try to post something and it refuses to get accomplished? Is there a deeper message there? Could we look at it from a different perspective - maybe including synchronicity, and ask ourselves if there isn't something more at work? Maybe this post or message needs to be changed, deleted, or is not meant to be posted at all.

Has that ever happened to you?

I've never thought about a "deeper meaning" when something won't post. Interesting concept.

Blogger is full of glitches. I try not to take it personally.

Hawthorne Street is the very coolest part of Portland, at least I think so. It reminds me of San Francisco when I moved there in the early 1980's.

That car! Wow!! Someone used a lot of superglue!

That's some car!
There were a lot of problems with Blogger yesterday but it all seems to be sorted now.

That hasn't happened to me yet, but my blog roll did disappear the other day and I just about died!

Only too often have my posts or comments not been able to go through. It does make you wonder if it wasn't meant to be...maybe someone would read too much into a casual comment that wasn't intended.
Have a safe trip back!

So glad to be reading your posts again. Also glad you had such fun.

Bout the posting - welcome to my world. Sometimes the connection here is so bad that i just say 'forget this' and end up not posting anything ... yup, that could be God's doing i suppose

Beautiful. I love street fairs! Too bad that I'm so far away...

Since we are both tuned into what our intentions can accomplish, I think if I cannot post I should usually put my attention elsewhere. It's awfully time consuming and sometimes time wasting, just browsing around the blogosphere...

I love Portland! We took our grandchildren there to visit the zoo. Amazing!

I'm always looking at the deeper meaning when something goes awry. Like you, I wonder if it's meant to post. I usually will re-read and maybe do some edits and if it posts, then it was meant to be and if not, I usually start over.

Portland - a place I want to see before I get to old to travel!

My younger, inpatient self would have never found the deeper meaning in a post not going through the first time. I would have tried and tried and tried until I made it happen. "Made it happen" is the operative phrase. Now my much more patient self looks at these things as signs to stop and wait. I find some of the most interesting things happen when I just stop and wait.

Sounds like you had a great day in Portland. And the shots of tequila and potluck with the neighbors sounds fun!
Blogger has been acting up a lot lately, but with over a million blogs...sometimes these things can happen.

Yes, that's happened a few times.. usually with an email that just won't send.. and seemingly, often for a reason. It's probably wise to listen when there is opposition to our intentions.

Sounds like Portland was a great enjoyment.

When something won't post, I usually blame it on my internet connection...happens all the time(a few seconds ago actually). However it gives me an opportunity to take a look at what I wrote. That's an amusing car by the way. Great post.

I hope one day to escape Texas and find a lovely place to "fit," right into!

Maybe the tequila shots with the neighbors made outer forces jealous of your fun. Or maybe they were sparing my jealousy. :)
