Can you feel it?

Can you feel the end of summer? It was very cool yesterday at the beach. It was about 69 degrees, but the wind was blowing, and whitecaps were visible on the lake. We packed up after only an hour and headed home to pack for the trip to Portland. I'll drive with my daughter and fly home, so that she won't be driving and caring for my grandson at the same time.

It's been lovely having them in my home. Most of the time we visit them, as it's just easier. They have very little paid time off, so it makes sense to have us do the traveling. But I'll bet some of you know what I'm talking about when I say, I like to have them in my home...

Two weeks from today (or tomorrow maybe) you and I will be sitting together and chatting as if we'd done it a hundred times. I can't wait!!

well, nancy, you are SO right when you say that some of us know what you mean when about "having our family in our place" - so so true - and i just had my visit with one of my daughters from louisiana - and her batch including my new little ggrand baby!!! positively wonderful - i've been trekking the little ones down to our beach about 15miles from here - and then yesterday put the little swimming pool and slide up in the yard and let two of the little ones splash till they could splash no more - so glad you had the time with yours - hope to hear from you soon! have a wonderful day!

Not for awhile yet, not for us, though it was surprisingly cool this morning but did not last long at all.

Hi Nancy! Oh gosh...not in the mountains here! Summer has just begun! From mid-June until just a few days ago, it rained 90% of the time and the other 10% was freezing cold! Well, not really FREEZING, lol but sweater weather for sure! We're in the middle of a heat wave, and I'm relishing every second!!! Cute photo!!

hot and humid in ny, but I know what you mean......all of a sudden, one day, you will feel it, and you can't even really explain it, but autumn is around the corner.

I noticed the difference in the amount of daylight. I went and checked and see that we are losing more than 3 minutes of daylight every day, and we are an hour and a half shorter than we were a month ago. We can certainly notice it here.

But the picture makes me think of the long and serene days of autumn..

The little guy is just adorable! My daughter and her family left this morning and I confess that I shed a tear or two. Altho it is really crowded here we all had fun together. Missing them acutely right now and I will be relieved as soon as I get that call that says they made it home!

Seasons??? We don't have those in central Texas. It's still 100 + everyday and no sign of cooling off anytime soon...

I have also had my son here with me for the past week so I know how much fun you have been having with yours. :-)

Once I start back to school, it is officially fall to me. I don't care if it is ninety degrees outside!

It's still very hot here, but I've noticed a change in the sun's rays. They look very autumn-like.

I know what you mean. It gets harder and harder, doesn't it. They all lead such busy lives. Sometimes I feel I don't have a place in theirs any more.

This is my favorite time of the year, from mid-August until the end of October. Here in Vancouver we have the most wonderful Indian summers (is that a politically incorrect term? I never know anymore...). But we can still have outrageously hot heat waves, so we may get another one yet. But I love the smell of the air at this time of the year. It smells -- mellow.

All the lettuces have gone to seed; summer is officially over and we must begin to embrace fall.
I do know what you mean about having your family at your place. Sigh!

He's a beautiful little boy and the setting is lovely. You likely know the temperatures here went from the 100's to the 60's in a few days. I'm not complaining. It will warm up again but I think the possibility of weeks worth of uncomfortably hot weather is gone for the season.

Yup, I can smell the change in the air.

We're finally getting our warmest days of the summer.

Now I'm missing the cooler weather.

Some people are never satisfied.

It is easier when they are in your own home...even though it's easier for us to travel. Can I feel it? You bet and I'm NOT ready!

It's always a wonderful feeling to have all my chicks in my very own nest.. Glad you had such a wonderful time with your daughter and grand little.

End of summer? Not here in the Northeast... it is 94 this morning and tomorrow should hit 100. BEACH TIME!!

Cubil said...

Yes, in Houston the daily highs are around 92 now. Much improved from the near 100 in REAL summer.

He's so cute! I agree with you, summer is about to end and I am feeling it waaay too early. It's great that you're able to travel and visit your daughter.

We're in the hottest part of our summer at the moment.. the only hot part we had this year. I'm loving every minute of it so I'd just rather not think about September.. yet. Lovely photo. :)
