Mountain Day

We have started hiking again, now that we've had so much free time. Today we started at about 7,300 ft and hiked about 3.5 miles. This area is about 30 miles from Lake Tahoe in the Carson Pass area, not far from Kirkwood Ski Resort. I now need a few tylenol, but can't wait to go again.

Lucy loved being off the leash and ran the entire time. She went about three times further than we did.

On the way home I snapped a picture of our beautiful Emerald Bay at Lake Tahoe. Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

These are wonderful photographs that make me wish the woods behind our place were half so walkable. Have a great weekend and keep up the good work when you return.

I love to hike in the mountains.

On an aside...you are going to love the Janet Evanovich books. I just recently went through about a dozen of them and every one made me laugh out loud.

I am so envious! I love to hike but it's much to hot here most of the time to hike. Your pics are absolutely beautiful. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Nancy,

I loved your last few posts, the hate bomb :( and death with dignity,S.S (had a similar experiance) really important issues. I don't know how you think of these, but I'm glad you do. You always give such great information.

And now hiking! This is something I love to do too! nature, wildlife, exercise, free! I love to see you and your husband do it together, isn't is a wonderful thing to share? I hope you won't be too sore. :) Tahoe is so beautiful...

As photos never do the real thing justice, I am sure you had a breathtaking view where you took the photos. Amazing pictures! Thank you for sharing them.

Gorgeous!

It's great to have such a lovely place to hike through! Here it's waaaay to hot in the summer and the vegetation is rather sparse anyway. Fortunately I have the Med which I'm about to head to for some scuba diving so that's ok! :p

Yeah, dogs generally do 3 times the hike we do! What with running back and forth and all that... ;o)

Hi Nancy: nice photos. looks like an excellent day. Since you're living in that area, I should have asked long ago...do you get the RSN channel? It stands for Resort Sports Network? They program for visitors to the area with feature length commercials on local restaurants, ski areas, attractions, hostelry & more. I think the RSN Tahoe station coverage is huge, via cable. This is the company for whom I work.

You are so lucky to have such a beautiful place to hike. I love the pic of Lucy. She reminds me of my two Black Labs that I had for many years. They do love the water. And Emerald Bay is gorgeous. Hope that you have a wonderful weekend, too!

Omigosh, how incredibly beautiful. Hike in those mountains must be so invigorating. And isn't it thrilling to see your dog run free with such joyous abandon.

So many folks want to retire to the beach, but I will take the mountains and a peaceful lake anytime.

Can you tell, I'm jealous!

I am waiting for Julie Andrews to step into that meadow and start singing "the hills are alive..."!

Yey Mountain Day!!!! I'm so glad you got out hiking Nancy! Must feel so good, sore legs and all. Connecting with nature is such a special thing. Your lake is so beautiful, I'm in awe of the colour of the water. Lucy is so cute!

That's a view even a beach girl like me could love. I don't hike, but if I did, that looks like a wonderous place to explore.

Nice to meet you, btw. Thanks for stopping by.
