Change of Blanket

The fall is early to the Sierra Nevada mountains. We are only in the low 60's today, and it dipped last night to the low 40's. I think I'll bring the plants in from the deck. You never know when an overnight freeze might might drop by for a visit. The little animals are heading underground early, a sign of an El Nino winter?

Of course, as soon as we change our blanket (we froze last night), it will warm up again. We are only a week away from the official start of the new season, however. The blanket change would take place soon, if not now. I suppose some of you are considering the opposite. Are you considering changing to a lighter blanket where you live?

So out with the light cotton,

and in with the soft and warm.

For now we can fold the quilt at the bottom. But before you know it, we'll be pulling it up and over, as well. The skis will be coming out, and we will be making holiday arrangements. Time marches right along.

How about you? Are you considering a change?

Oh...those look so comfy! My husband is one that loves cool...and I mean cool...air conditioning. I'm a warm weather person. The warm blankets stay on through all seasons..he just piles them over on my side! Hope your week is fabulous!

The winter duvet is in the dry-cleaners. Our new house (very old house actually but new to us) is very cozy and we are hanging out for the cooler weather. Autumn in London is my favourite time of year.

O, Nancy, that photo of Tahoe made me cry! I am so homesick to see the Lake again. I don't know why I haven't driven up to the Lake the times I've been home to Reno.

My husband begged for an electric blanket and I finally gave in last year and bought one with dual controls. Hadn't had (or wanted) one for ages, but I admit it was nice. I'll still use the down comforter on top, though, and turn the blanket on when I'm cold.

We were in the 90s the last few days, but it sprinkled last night and change is in the air.

Yepp, the temperature here in Bavaria dropped as well with the first snow to be expected in the Bavarian Alps..... I am not a winter girl at all. However it will be the first winter in Germany after 6 years in Spain. I expereince distinctive seasons again - for a change ;-))

Going the other way!

Tonight is the first night without the fire.

It's mid spring here .....

Thinking of putting a lighter blanket on too.

Here in Michigan we kept the quilt at the foot of the bed all summer, it was so cool. I don't remember that happening before. So nothing will change on our bed.

Still lovely (and unusually) warm here in Alberta. If it wasn't for the wacky neighbours I'd have had the windows open overnight. It'll change soon enough.

I was just thinking about this as I woke up this morning...in St. Louis the hot weather broke early, and we've enjoyed a couple weeks of highs in the mid-80s/lows in the mid-60s. The windows have been open the whole time.

However, it's no longer light when I get up in the morning, and it's definitely getting darker earlier. Change is coming!

In the Texas heat we sleep with only a sheet in the summer months...which is most of the year. We do have a thicker comforter that we throw on when it gets chilly. We have not even come close to having to pull that out yet. :-)

Here in upper Washington state, I sleep with the windows wide open all summer, and soon we'll have to change the bedding to winter's warm comforter but for now we're still with the summer layers (sheet and light cover). You've given me an idea for another post, about how couples modify their bedding for each other.

I envy your need for a blanket. It's still in the 90s down here in Florida...and between that and my own "personal summer" shall we say...I'm sick of the heat! I may have to start summering in the Arctic before I'm finally through "the change", LOL!

Hi Nancy! I've already pulled out the polar fleece pj's!!! I think I made that change way back at the beginning of August. Although the days are still quite hot in the sun here on the island, no big trees to block it out, so I have the A/C going from 2pm - 7pm, funny huh? lol. Btw...thank you so much for your encouraging comments!!! I got my appointment with an academic advisor for the morning of the 23rd of September! yeehaw!!! :)

We won't need a blanket on the bed til late October probably. A sheet still does us fine.

Talking about warm blankets makes me happy!

Here in the Northeast it is glorious - 70's during the day, 50's at night. Leaves just beginning to turn. Ah Autumn

I'm doing my clothing renewal for the winter already - I mean, taking things off the closets, seein what fits and what doesn't, giving things away. It's freezing here!

I don't want to think about blankets or cold weather right now. We have at least one more month of summer before we head into fall and then maybe winter, by Christmas. And even then, just a light blanket will do.

It's always a trick to figure out when to put the big ole comforter on my bed. Fall comes late to the south, so usually I don't get to it until late October. It has been a cool summer, so we'll see.

You have the best ways of introducing your topics.

Windows are still wide open here at night.. and sometimes the a/c still kicks on during the day. I'm not ready to relinquish summer. :)

Our weather changed too. It's only in the low 80's during the day and it's been getting cold at night. I changed back to our down duvet two nights ago. I missed it anyway, it's so soft! I love fall. Last night the newscaster said the heat is on it's way back. Drat!

It's 90 degrees in south Florida today, so 40s at night sounds divine!

I actually had to ask a friend here to loan me a blanket! The one provided at the dorm was no way near enough... the temperature dropped so my first week back in Belgium that I was shivering in bed at night! :s

Oh goodness no! It's still 90 degrees in Texas. :( My air is on 75 and I sleep with a sheet.

LUCKILY: Josh and I will be stationed elsewhere in November, and maybe it will be chilly there... I'm hoping somewhere it snows.

As for the holidays, my dreams are filled with my vegan pies and entrees. *sigh*
I've never been more excited about Thanksgiving.

Our weather temp has dropped from the 100s to the 80's and low 90's. Feels like fall to me. Although not as dramatic, it will not be until December that I'll pull out the down comforter - that my husband kicks to the side.
