Make A Wish

Our little Lilly and her family are traveling to Disney World for a week of fun in the sun, courtesy of the Make A Wish Foundation. Tonight we attended a send off party which they sponsored. We had pizza, soda, salad and cake. They had presents for Lilly, which included a Minnie Mouse that she held on to the entire night. She is all things Disney! I wonder if that was the gist of the conversation here?

This organization is wonderful! I hope that you never have the need for their generosity, but if you have the opportunity to support them, please do. You can donate your time, frequent flyer miles, new electronics, building materials, and in a myriad of other ways. A worthy cause, indeed.

It is indeed a wonderful organization. I often attend "Wags to Wishes" here in San Diego -an awesome dog event to raise money for Make A Wish. May all Lilly's dreams and wishes come true!

Nancy, I wanted to know more about your Lily but there are no other posts labelled with her name. If you don't mind directing me to one (presuming that there is one) I'd like to read about her.

This organization does such wonderful things - I'm glad Lily is off to have some fun.

She is such a beautiful little girl, Lilly. I agree with Deborah. Can we know more about her? I send along my best wishes for her to have a time she will never forget. Those beautiful soulful eyes!

Ooops! I went back and read the link under "here" in this post, and realized I do know Lilly and all about her illness. She enchanted me back at Christmas time, too...

Wow, she's going to have so much fun! I have a friend who took her five year old there this week, and my facebook page has been full of pictures of him with Mickey and Goofy and everyone else.

Over the years I've worked for a number of radio stations who work with Make A Wish and it is, indeed, a wonderful organization. They try to grant the wishes of children with terminal illnesses and one may donate in a number of ways as you suggest.

Cal - What a great idea. I'm going to check into local fundraisers in my area. This one sounds fun.

Deborah - the "here" link in my post goes back to my one and only post on Lilly. I always make sure it's okay with her parents before I post, so there is only one other one. I did go back and put a "Lilly" label on the post as well, if you'd like to read more about our little darling.

Ruth - Thank you

Brian - I hope they do as well, thanks

Natalie - She loves disney characters, so I know she will love it.

Elisabeth - Thank you so much.

Bonnie - Time to just be together and play, yes I hope the same thing.

Joanne - Thank you

DJan - Yes, click on the "here" link. She does have the most beautiful big brown eyes!

Gypsy - Thank you, she does love all things "princess!"

scarlehue - I know, I can't wait to hear the stories and see the pictures!

Whitney - Thank you

California - I agree. I'm going to look into how I can help when I get home.

I remember your post about Lilly and her visit with Santa. Such a cute little girl.

I'll be happy when there is no more need for the Make A Wish Foundation. My wish would be that every child should have the opportunity to grow up healthy and strong, and that we find a way to wipe out all childhood illnesses.

I hope Lilly has a wonderful time at Disney World. She deserves it. :-)

Make A Wish is one of the best charitable organizations out there.

I wish Lilly and her family the trip of a lifetime - filled with happiness, memories and of course all things Disney "the happiest place on earth"...

I've been a volunteer for Make-A-Wish of Oregon for two years now and can state it is awesome being on the inside. There are many stories of children who's lives were transformed by the magic of wishes. Many are adults now, and they are still involved with the business of wishes and making life magical for children!

My next door neighbour used to organize the Canadian Make a Wish events. They stop at nothing to make it an incredible experience for the kids. Sending best thoughts for Lilly.
