I am starting to see more and more buttons! I would really like to have a left side on my blog for buttons, but blogger doesn't seem to have one. Does anyone know anything about templates that are not from blogger? Do they work well? Can you add blogger gadgets? What should I watch out for?
Help!

Mine isn't from blogger. Look at the bottom for who I got it from. I just looked around and found blogs that give out free templates. You do miss a few things ... so, save your original template. It takes a bit of time to put old stuff on the new template but I wanted a 3 column and now I have one ...

For free, and a gazillion to choose from! 1 column, 2 columns, 3 columns, 4 columns templates, theme templates, etc. etc.
Works like a charm. Have fun picking one!
JC - Thanks!
Josephine - I'll check it out. I'm worried about losing all my blog posts... I am a non-tech geek.
I would like to change my page too, trouble is even when I follow in depth instructions I still mess it up!
Nancy, I'll wait to see how you work this out before I try to do the same.
Hey Nancy,
If you upload a template from the website btemplates.com, none of your posts will be deleted. The only thing you might lose are your widgets but you can put them back. Also, when you upload a template, blogger will ask you if you want to keep or delete your current widgets. Hope this helps!
Greetz,
Josephine
Thanks, Josephine! Gemel and lakeviewer - check out all the templates at blogger website:

I like that they are "blogger" templates, so they should work with our blogs.
have you seen my blogger template? It has the sidebar - with buttons - down the left hand side.
Friko - I need three columns - one for buttons and the other for gadgets (pics). I would like something in blue because I think it's easy on the eyes, and without a picture in the template since I use pics in my posts. So far only one seems to fit... I really like both of your blog templates, though.
I have grown so used to the "look" of your blog, but I am also tempted by all the new templates. I looked at three column ones, but since I couldn't figure out how to control the WIDTH of the columns, I just gave up. I'm now on my third template, and I've discovered that the simpler it is, the more I like it. I'll probably go and putter around with the new ones...
Doesn't blogger offer the three column templates? It would seem that an extra column would give you the space for the buttons?
If you know someone who is tech savvy they can go right into your Blogger html and widen it and give you two sidebars. That's what I had done on mine. They're just basic Blogger templates that I had rewritten. But you have to know what you're doing and I certainly don't. Lots of people do though. Bet you could find someone.
I also have a second blog that I use for testing. You can hide them ... actually I have 3 blogs but one is just for testing things. You could do that and put the new template on there to see how many widgets etc. needs adjusting. That will tell you how much time it will take you to get it the way you want.
The one I had has all sorts of colors that I had to adjust. The 3 column takes away the options for a big photo but I like have 3.
DJan - I really like the one you have now. I like my template because it's simple. I'll probably find one that is similar.
Joanne - Not on the ones offered with the blog. But you can download (if one knew how, that it is) from a website with blogger-friendly templates. It has hundreds to choose from. The three column is exactly what I need.
Jayne - I'm visiting my daughter next week. She's very knowledgeable in this area. An added column would be perfect.
JC - I may do exactly that!
Golly, don't ask me. Techno knobhead here. :)
I know I am reading this late but it looks like you have 3 columns
wish i could help - i am SO NOT tech savvie either - which is why i like blogger so much - it's so user friendly - good luck!!!
The whole collection is very useful!
