Isn't this a fascinating story?

Stories such as this are totally intriguing and all the more believable when it is a child who has the experience. So much we don't know, and have yet to discover ...

I've always wondered...
This is amazing! And really, it tugged my heartstrings.

Very touching story. I suppose there are those who always can find explanations. For me, I can't judge as I know life is much too complex to think I could possibly understand it all.

yes its amazing! I read his book a while back and its just fantastic.

It is fascinating, heartwarming, and chilling all at once, isn't it? I don't solidly believe in reincarnation, but I think it exists within a huge number of possibilities.

It's the funniest thing, Nancy, part of the reason I don't want to invest fully in the belief, is an experience I had while watching something about the Holocaust...it was really very frightening and disturbing, I was cold, shaking, very upset and the friend who was with me -- who is Jewish -- said, "Well, maybe you're reincarnated from World War II...maybe you died..."

And the most terrifying thought occurred to me...what if I'd been on the other side of that conflict? What if my reaction wasn't a memory, but guilt?

Now, if you know me at all, and I think you do, that just seems utterly impossible, doesn't it? But if reincarnation is true for all...all the horrid people who have died throughout history ...oh my.

Reminds me of a discussion online where people were joking about Ancestry.com and someone bringing up a perfectly gruesome tale of finding out their great, great grandfather had murdered their great, great grandmother after forty years of marriage. She was joking, "Such a heartwarming tale, can't imagine why they don't ask me to do the commercials..." and someone else replying, "Yes, newsflash folks: bad people breed, too."

That story above is fascinating, truly...and clearly I don't think that young boy is the reincarnation of anyone unkind, or bad in anyway, shape or form.

But what trips me out is that someone must be, out there....and if we keep coming back until we've learned the lessons we need to before we move on...then all of us are. Which is both inspiring in the thought that we get more chances, and then a little frightening in the things we might have done over the course of rather brutal human history.

You're in a mood for deep subjects these past couple of days :-) Everything okay? Just pondering?

By the way, here's a link to an Indigo Girls' song you might like, about this very subject:

Amazing story. I've heard of other children who remember their previous lives but by the time they hit puberty and before, the memories are usually lost to them. I imagine it depends on how much support they get from their families and how much they actually remember.

The thing that jumped right out at me was the line where James responds to something his father said, James says "I know. that's why I chose you." that added validation to my own belief that we do, indeed, choose our parents, our life's circumstances, when we reincarnate.

Bonnie - You started this... :-)

dudette - It is really a fascinating story.

Midlife - It is truly complex, isn't it?

Nancy - I'll have to put it on my list.

Shimp - I'm fine. (I hope! Do we ever really know?) I got started on this thread reading the post and comments on Bonnie's blog yesterday, and just happened to come across this video from a link on Synchronicity. You know how one thing leads to another... Anyway - strange reaction regarding the Holocaust! I do think bad people come back - just look at all of the bad things happening right now. But I read that the New Age, or whatever you call the 1,000 Years of Peace is actually a time when "lower vibrational souls - souls with much work to still do", will not be able to reincarnate. Only higher vibrational souls. Do I believe all that I read? No. But I have an open mind.

Ellen - I've read that same thing in many of the books written by Dr. Kenneth Ring and others working on near-death experiences. Souls can choose their parents and life circumstances depending upon what they want to work on. Interesting thought. I remember having a very "real" dream after my mother died (I was six) and she leaned down to tell me to remember "the plan" or something to that effect.

Amazing. Wow, I will have to read that book now.

My older son told me he found me by looking in a box and chose me. He was three at the time.

Children, I believe are the closest to the spirit world.

I am so excited by this, that i burst into tears!
When my little cousin was two years old,she asked "Where was her violin?" her mother said, "You are too little to play a violin, Steph"

Nevertheless, she wouldn't let up about her violin, saying that she remembered playing one 'before'.In the end, they bought her one. She picked it up and started playing a tune! Two years old!

Facinating!! I just recently asked my husband if we were to see pictures of ourselves in our past lives today, if we would recognize our souls. He replied.."probably so".

Thank you....I believe we should be "open" to new ideas, and this bring interesting thoughts...thank you for sharing with us...smiles.

Nancy, That boy is truly amazing - way too many coincidences to discount his credibility, and he sounds so mature. I totally believe there is much beyond our comprehension and understanding - our physical being is but one aspect.

One thing that struck me was upstanding character of the "original" James. Now younger James is carrying on that tradition.

I agree with you about the importance of keeping an open mind. We're probably in for quite a few "surprises" as we get older and wiser!

I'm a believer. Always have been. I don't know why. It just seems to make sense to me, especially the part about choosing your parents and your life circumstances. Many years ago I read the Seth Speaks books and just connected with what was being said at a level that felt truthful to me.

I heard about this little boy a couple of years ago. It's fascinating and it validates what I've known all along.

We don't know it all...what a relief!

Melissa - There is a new book coming out soon on this subject. Dr. Raymond Moody, I think. I agree with your assessment regarding children.

Natalie - That is really fascinating. I wonder if she was famous in another life?

luksky - He loves you! :-)

leilani - It really is!

Emom - You're welcome - I always like to see your smiling face!

Amy - He was very mature. I wonder if it was the experience of remembering or of being around adults most of the time. Sometimes it's hard to tell with children when they act so mature. But I thought it was very interesting when he said he thought God wanted this story told, that it was for a reason, and that people should realize how precious life really is, that it can be gone in an instant. Further proof we should live in the moment...

Brian - They are interesting, for sure!

Jayne - I read those books years ago and had the same feeling.

Jarie - It is such an interesting story. He certainly seemed to know things only the original James knew.

Von - Oh, I think we actually know very little...

Qutie fascinating, Nancy. This story seems to be backed up by facts that litle James couldn't possibly have known, and it's hard to stay sceptical in light of that. Hmm...

What an amazing story and what wonderful parents to fully grasp and explore their son's story.

I believe that we continue to evolve in spirit until we reach the highest plane. - it is then, once all of our "work" is done, that we can rest.

Anyway, I do believe I'm going to buy that book - Soul Survivor. I am intrigued.

Nancy said...

Deborah - Children rarely have the wherewithal to pull something of that magnitude off without exposing themselves. This is a very interesting story.

Good Cook - Good theory. I think you might be right. I may buy the book as well.

That is just about the weirdest thing I've ever seen.

There can be no other explanation for it.

Wow! Incredible story! It is not surprising that he chose these two, as his parents, in this life.

Stunned wordless. "There is a power that shapes our ends." "There are more things between heaven and earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophy."
What a child. Thank you.

This is very interesting!! I wish I could understand it better!!

James shocked me and scared me a little. I feel guilty for blocking the spiritual... I need to embrace the spiritual. Sometimes I feel like I'm just not searching for the answers, and maybe I should.

When I was a child, my mom said I interviewed people about the cold war... She didn't even know where I heard about the cold war. She said I had a little recording box and I would ask the neighborhood kids their opinions on the cold war.

The thought of choosing my own parents is shocking, but it could be the truth. :) I need to do more reading.
