Bugs

The bug has bitten. All that hugging over Thanksgiving! All three of my siblings had been really sick the week before, and like all good siblings they shared what they had. I hope it's H1N1 so I can just get it over with. I'll probably spend the week catching up with all of you. Now where did I put that Tylenol...

Ooh, Nancy, I do pray it's not H1N1. We had our shots before our visit to USA and were told that the next strain to hit Australia will be twice as bad as the last. The shot lasts forever and so far we have had no side effects.

Drink lots of water and rub your chest and throat with Vicks each night. xa

P.S. If you don't have Vicks, eucalyptus oil massaged in under the boobs.

Oh - bummer! So sorry to hear this. Take good care of yourself. I'm sure your daughter will be giving you lots of good tips. Wishing you an easy bout and a speedy recovery.

Oh no! We had one bout with H1N1 last week - our 17 year old daughter - she came down with it the day we were all going to get vaccinated. Thankfully, she had a mild case - fever only lasted 2-3 days.

the rest of us dodged the proverbial bullet - I hope your case is mild. Do exactly what we've been told for decades.
Rest
Drink plenty of fluids
Take tylenol for fever and aches and pains
Drink MORE fluids and rest some more.
NOW is the time for pampering yourself!!!

Sorry to hear you're not feeling well. I've always told my family there's some things it's ok NOT to share :-)

Ewww! I had it and it was a tough go. In Canada they are giving Tamiflu if you seek attention within 48 hours....

Hopefully you feel better soon!

Aaahhh...not good! At least you may get the rest that you need. Hope your in the pink soon!

It's probably H1N1 since it's the only flu strain going around everywhere right now. But if you had your regular flu shot, they are saying it will not hit you as bad. Keep us in the loop as to where you are in the healing process. Sending you healing vibes right here...

Sorry you're sick. I had a mild flu a few weeks ago and hoped it was H1N1 for the same reason as you.
Meanwhile, extra Vit.C and I'll suggest hot apple cider vinegar and honey every few hours. Gargle with a few mouthfuls first and then drink the rest. You don't have to, but it worked for me.

Sorry to hear you are sick. Husband has a bad case of bronchitis. If anything good comes out of it it's that he is going to take this opportunity to try and quit smoking.

I hope you feel better really soon!

Lots of fluids, keeping warm and lots of sleep... that's about all one can do with those nasty viruses.

Good luck and get better soon!!!

Sorry to hear this but think you'll need a bit more than Tylenol! Just saying.

Alaine - Thanks for the advice. We have not had the vaccine available yet in our area. Vicks brings back memories of my grandmother. Not a bad idea.

Pam - Thanks, hopefully this will be short-lived.

Bonnie - My youngest served me a glass with grapefruit-seed extract and a small amount of water before she left for home. Didn't do much. I should call the one working on her holistic nutrition certification and see if she has learned any tips. Good idea.

Good Cook - Doing exactly that!

Kathy - I agree!

wendyytb - I'm hoping I can kick this without going to the doctor - unfortunately I'm already past that 48 hour mark for Tamiflu.

Alicia - Thanks.

DJan - Thanks. No flu shot this year - they ran out before we could get one, but doing all the right things otherwise.

Leah - Great idea. My daughter has us drinking apple cider vinegar with tomato juice. It seems to be good for many things. I will try this. Also doing Emergen-C twice a day.

Ellen - I hope he is successful!

Sylvia - Thanks.

Chris - Doing exactly that. My father-in-law, who was a doctor said that was the best cure - water and rest.

Brian - Thanks.

Jane - I hope not, but you may be right. The thought of going to the doctor right now is daunting.

I hope you feel better soon. If you have a sore throat though, go to the dr. Last month Isabel was sick and I thought it was the flu so I just kept her home etc. She did not get better, so after a week I took her to the doctor. Well it was not the flu, it was not H1N1 it was STREP. Had I not taken her to the dr I would not have known she had strep and it would have turned into scarlett fever! The doctor said this has happened so many times this season because people think they have H1N1 and figure they can beat it on their own without going to the doctor and then they get scarlett fever which does much damage to your body and can leave your eyes vulnerable to blindness later.

So if your throat bothers you in the least, go get it checked!!!

Crap. Sorry it gotcha. I had the flu about 10 days ago, it laid me up good but it wasn't the swine flu. They say you know it's the swine flu when you can't stop coughing. Hope you have garden variety bug. That photo is amazing, by the way.

Ginger tea and diluted lemon juice. And then let nature take its course. Interesting how something invisible to the naked eye can wipe out our normal energy level. Take care!

I think that I had the H1N1. It was a shitty couple of weeks.

Lori said...

I had this for over 2 weeks and fought it off with taking Vit D-3, garlic, drinking lots of green tea and water and for the cough honey and lemon juice...and of course resting as much as I could. Hope you feel better soon.

I studied that photo for a minute trying to figure out what kind of "bug" it was! LOL! Then I read your post. Hope you are feeling better soon.

I think it's funny to be working in a hospital that has signs up saying that if you're sick you're not allowed in. That's one way of dealing with the problem.

Hope you're better and will stay that way.
