New House Smell

After a rear-numbing ride home from Portland yesterday, we walked in to that new-house smell. After ten days or so in really old homes in a damp city, this smell was of new wood, new carpet, paint. Nice smells.

Until Lucy - who had helped herself to jerky, hidden under numerous coats, sweaters, books, etc., during our only stop where both of us got out of the car. She was able to climb into the front seat from behind, and not leave a trace of her sleuthing. (If I hadn't found some suspicious-looking scraps of plastic wrap back there, she would have gotten away with the caper.) Being the glutton she is, and time constraints, she ate the jerky - plastic and all. Then proceeded to up-chuck her newly eaten kibble all over the new carpet - many, many times once we got home. My husband spent the night sitting up in a chair in the living room. We are worried she has some plastic that is not moving through and will take her to the vet this morning, if the tiny little breakfast we gave her doesn't stay down. He will also follow her around during her "business" to see what is happening there, as well. (Thank Gob for husbands who will do this - no, really, Thank Gob!)

As for the new house smell? Well, lets just say, I won't wonder when it will go away anymore.

They can be gross, can't they. I remember once when I had a dog and a cat. The cat did a whoopsy in the kitchen. I went to get something to clear it up with, but when I got back, the whoopsy had disappeared but the dog was still in the kitchen! Nuff sed.
Blessings, Star

Poor Lucy. Poor husbands! Heard mine taking the dog out at 2:15 a.m. Seems the dogs all have spring fever and are eating things they shouldn't. I'm on poopy watch tonight!

Oh dear, dear. Air out, wash and wash those floors. Dogs, like babies are just all that they can be all the time.

Thanks for visiting me.

Oh thank you for reminding me why I'll not be getting a dog soon! oh but Lucy is so sweet looking, I hope everything will be ok with her. I've had luck with baking soda in the past(to remove stains and odor). good luck!

Oy vey.

Well, there's no place like home ... hoping the smell mellows out sooner rather than later.

Welcome home, I think!

Ugh.. poor, silly dog!

My cousin had a dog who once ate one of those jelly-like toys that kids throw at the wall to make them stick, and slowly work their way down the wall's surface. This particular toy was in the shape of a hand, and the "arm" was a long, tapering tail-like piece of about 8 inches. After it passed through her system, the hand made its debut, waving wildly out of the dog's rear end. Nobody had the nerve to tug it out. ;)

I hope Lucy is feeling better soon.

Wait wait wait, did you find a house in Portland? I feel so lost. I go to vegas for five days and miss something big... I think. (Besides seeing you.)
