New Synchronicity Wesbsite

Trish & Rob MacGregor started a new website for their soon-to-be published book "Seven Secrets of Synchronicity." I've spent some time clicking around on the site and found it to be very interesting and informative. If you are puzzled about what synchronicity is all about, or you have a story to share with them, by all means - pay this site a visit.

I had the good fortune to meet the MacGregors while they vacationed in Hood River, Oregon, and we were visiting family in Portland. Since they live on the other side of the country - it was synchronicity that brought us together for lunch. They had placed a "Google alert" for "synchronicity" while working on their book, (yes, you can have Google work for you), and my blog post just happened to come up. Again, synchronicity. They were just the people I needed to meet at that time of my life. Trust me, they are very knowledgeable.

This has happened more than once. Issues that I may be working on just happen to come up in another person's blog post. Sidebars will show websites or other blogs that turn out to be just what I'm looking for. I've read a ton of books that inspire and facilitate my writing because someone recommended them to me in their comments, or better yet, in comments to another person. Some bloggers have become email friends, and we exchange thoughts on a variety of subjects. People with lives so different from mine, so far away from me, but sharing common interests. They often show up encouraging, or offering advice, just when I need it the most. The more that I'm aware of synchronicity in my life, the more alive I feel.

What about you - have you experienced synchronicity lately?

Yes, I have experienced synchronicity several times during my life, things that could not be explained any other way. I'll go over to their site and see what it's about! Thanks, Nancy.

One of the phrases that is commonly heard in our family is "There's no such thing as a coincidence."

I'll have to check out their new website.

well, yes as a matter of fact...

I was selected for the 24,24,24 foodbuzz promotion, the very same day it was confirmed that we were moving to the Virgin islands for 6 months. the xtra $250 that goes with the promotion will help cover my food purchasing needs to set up shop there

I love the synchronicity of life! I find it exciting eveytime it happens, which is often.

It seems to always be a reminder of how connected we all are and how we are "one in the same."

Synchroncity and Serendipity are often interchangeable , aren't they? Fortuitous coincidence! Sail with the three princes of Serendip and all that.

I do so love following the train of thought people put forth in the blogosphere. How our world becomes more closely connected, and distance means less. There are downsides, obviously. Personally Google Street View seems one of those things with both an upside and a downside, as a for instance.

But there are wonderful moments of connection to go along with that vague 'Big Google is Watching' sense.

I do have something silly to add. One day, when sitting around with a friend, I was telling her about Google Street View, which up until that time she had not seen. We pulled up her address, and found that the picture attached to her address, had absolutely no relationship to her home. She had no idea whose home it could be.

For some reason this bothered her greatly. How would anyone ever find her house? I pointed out that almost anyone she wished to find her home was likely someone who she actually knew, and could therefore provide directions to.

"This will just help thwart stalkers," I pointed out.

"But what if it isn't a stalker? What if it's a secret admirer instead. What if I've been hoping my whole life to meet this guy, but Google Earth just ruined my chances of happiness forever?"

We went on to have a thoroughly silly conversation about whether or not a secret admirer would actually be considered a stalker in today's world, but there's an epilogue. My friend had not been particularly computer savvy, but Google Earth had intrigued her enough that she began investigating the online world a bit. Eventually she crossed paths with a very nice man, with whom she formed a connection. Emboldened by the internet world, she met him for coffee (at ye old safe location, mutually agreed upon) and the rest, as they say, was history.

But to this day, she credits the thwarted-stalker debate for making her explore the internet a bit more.

Synchronicity, or Serendipity?

Nancy, I waffle back and forth between wondering if synchronicity is a mysterious and enchanting way for the right things to happen at the right time, and just being mathematical about it all. Synchronicity is a little too close to the notion of fate for me to accept that it exists. Statistical probability explains a lot of things, and I'm more comfortable with that view, although it's way less fun.
However, like every one else, I've had things happen to me that are so coincidental as to defy explanation, and those I'm content to just see as wonderful coincidences.
What I like to do sometimes is retrace back the path that led to the event/coincidence (if it's possible) and that is as fascinating as anything to me. You know the kind of thing, 'If I hadn't done that, then it wouldn't have led to this, which wouldn't have had the result it did.'

Yes. :)
Sometimes someone will say exactly what I am thinking, or tell the same story I told the day before.

I like to pretend my dreams are other humans' lives that I have a connection to...
