Lunch in Big Sur

Here was our view while having lunch in Big Sur last week. It certainly made the tuna fish sandwich. The California coast is really incredible this time of year. You can see why California cows are so happy!

Our next trip will be from Big Sur to Cambria. I can't wait.

Were you, by any chance, dining at Nepenthe'? ONe of my favorite memories is eating there. It's been way too long a time since then and I will enjoy your photos of the trip (maybe it'll get us to planning one of our own)!

I love to travel through different people's blogs and see all these different parts of the world and all their varied weather patterns.

The Big Sur seems to be one of the better ie warmer, greener places. Lucky you.

Such beautiful, hazy hills in the background! A husk of dry bread and a glass of water would be fabulous n a setting like that.

PS I liked your 'quote of the day', Nancy. Well, I always do.

It is a beautiful place. Been there once myself, though it was a lifetime ago.

I spent the night once camping at a beach in Big Sur (just throwing a sleeping bag on the sand). I remember waking to the sound of the tide coming in and I was stranded until it went out again. Thanks for the memories; it is still a beautiful place.

Doesn't food always taste better eaten outdoors? Especially with views like that!

It's gorgeous! Yes, I'd love to visit and be a happy cow. :)

I was going to guess Nepenthe and Lydia beat me to it. Looks like the weather is decent. Cambria is a gorgeous little town. Will you stop by Hearst's Castle too?

I've always wanted to go there!

That is much more picturesque than anywhere I have eaten lunch lately! I would most definitely be a happy cow if that were my view. Gorgeous pictures.

Hi Nancy! I'm sorry I lost you as a follower, but I had some issues going on and had to temporarily shut down my blog. I hope things are well with you (as it seems they are from your posts!) Take care! :)

Nancy, it's so beautiful there. One of the nicer things about life is having these moments where it's all so stunningly perfect, and idyllic. I mean, those shots look like what most people would envision for heaven, don't they? They're warming just to look at.

Plus, there appears to be beer in heaven, always a plus ;-)

Oh that is so beautiful. TBHITW and I once drove down the coast from San Francisco to Big Sur - we stopped at a "hippie" resort called Ventana? It was one of the most romantic, beautiful places I've ever eaten...

That looks like a pretty good glass of beer too. What a wonderful place to enjoy it...!

Hi Guys, Yes it was Nepenthe! I didn't notice the little hippie place Vantana, but it was our first foray past Monterey on that part of the coast. The next trip I will definitely call you, Marlene, for lodging ideas and stop by to say hi. And yes, I'm thinking a tour of Hearst Castle must be in the mix. Hope you are all warm on this cold February night - it's been snowing here all day. The warmth of the coast was such a treat.

What an awesome view, anything would taste good in that setting. It looks really nice to me right now, we have had fog for weeks.

I absolutely LOOOOOOVE Nepenthe! And their awesome ambrosia burgers eaten on that breathtaking terrace...

I took my son to the seahorse exhibit at the MBAQ this summer and we both really enjoyed it.

Pity we didn't hook up. Next time...

That has to be Nepenthe, isn't it? Such a beautiful spot and it came so close to that last big fire there. Or I should say, the fire came so close to it.

I love our CA coast, so beautiful.
