Pay Attention

I have had some very interesting synchronicities lately, and I read somewhere that our thoughts are being manifested much more quickly. It has something to do with the magnetic field around the earth. Anyway, my husband I were discussing the fact that I might be a touch too dependent on my half tab of Ambien for sleep. Right after the conversation I researched and wrote the Monsanto post, and was absolutely floored when the last item in the list of Monsanto products to avoid was.... Ambien! Really? My sleep aid is manufactured by a company that makes Roundup and genetically engineered food?

Next up, I have been trying to cut down on sugar, which seems to be in more products than we realize. Yesterday I am in the dentist chair having my teeth cleaned, my mouth is full of instruments when the hygienist starts talking about her water purifier that makes the water alkaline. Alkaline water is supposed to balance the pH in the body, especially the sugars. She goes on to say people who eat too much sugar are at higher risk of cancer, because the cancer cells literally feed off the sugar. Wow. My last post on water, especially structured water, and my desire to cut down on sugar all in two or three sentences from my hygienist.

She highly touted her water purifier, by the way. She feels she has much more energy, and a sense of well being that she didn't have before. I will have to do some research on it, and let you know what I find.

So this is just two things I am personally working on. What are you working on? Have you noticed the Universe speaking to you? Pay attention, you just might be surprised.

Interesting! I love these moments that I call "connect the dots" moments! But I like your "synchronistic" word better!

I had missed that Monsanto post and just read it. The content reminded me of a wonderful (even if scary) book by Barbara Kingsolver: "Animal, Vegetable, Miracle". She expands on the points you made and told the story of what she and her family are doing in the face of all this. She's a great writer. Her book and another I just read: "Little Bee" are my inspirations for what I'm working on, namely, eating locally grown food and talking to immigrants who are asking for money rather than ignoring them.
p.s. Ambien and all sleep aids are meant to be used very short term, like 1-2 weeks. Try valerian, a natural aid with good evidence.

dear nancy, my apologies i have been so remiss in visiting my favorite blogs...but have had to remove myself -quite literally- from the keyboard. the water changes are fascinating, aren't they??

as for ambien, i have had to use it for, ready? 15 years!! i too had NO IDEA it wasn't made by another company that does not make round up. if you discover more about the alkaline water, i do hope you share...i have heard simple baking soda but cannot believe that is safe. with so many health challenges on my horizon, i am trying everything in the holistic arena but after tens of thousands of dollars on out of pocket charges and everything under the sun and moon, i only grow worse.... giving up on my sleep [have you ever tried to stop ambien?? ] seems like a bad idea but i will see what my newest doc has to say...most likely just that, i am always told this but then, after three weeks of no sleep and much worse in body/mind, i am put back on it-or *I* decide it's best!
as always, a wonderfully thought provoking post...xxxx

Brenda Susan - Connecting the dots is a perfect way of putting it!

Grandmother - Thank you so much for the book titles, I will definitely put them on my reading list. I haven't taken Ambien since reading that Monsanto makes it and have been doing okay so far with sleep, but I will look for valerian at the health food store for those times when I really need it. Thanks again.

Linda - Grandmother suggested valerian - I haven't tried it yet, but quit Ambien as soon as I found out who makes it. The first night was really hard, no sleep, the second was better and now I get around 7 hours without anything. Exercise is helping and I try to avoid all caffeine except for morning. I will let you know what I found about the water purifiers and agree that a holistic approach is best, but you have to do what you have to do with the medical issues you face. I hope you are feeling better, and I'm so happy to see you here again!

Hi Nancy! Welcome back! Interesting post, as always. I first got into researching the Acid/Alkaline diet/water thing a few years ago, when my son became very ill. After just 2 weeks on the alkaline water and diet, he totally recovered, since it is impossible for disease to live in an alkaline environment, in the body. The acid build up is what causes disease, and sugar, drugs, and many other foods are highly acidic. Glad that you are going to stop taking the Ambien. May next door neighbor had terrible side effects from it. Great synchro!

Oh darn, I'd better forego that chocolate chip cookie I was going to munch on just now. I do hear the Universe speaking in many ways and often. I do think that I need to heed it more often than I do, though.

One thing a great teacher of mine always used to say is that everything is both poison and medicine. Balance is the key.

If you don't sleep, that's worse than taking a half-tab of Ambien. If you worry all the time, that's worse than just letting go and eating sugar.

The statistics about what make people candidates for cancer are so sketchy and incomplete. There are always LOTS of factors that contribute or don't that have not been taken into consideration.

There's a great article in the NYTimes today about how now they're decideding that blood pressure isn't as key as they thought it was in terms of ill health.

They're just making it up as they go along.

You're doing fine! You think about things and take care of yourself. Not to worry!!

I've heard about the cancer/sugar connection, too, even as I dump heaping teaspoons of the stuff into my coffee. Perhaps it's time to make the permanent switch back to tea...
Many synchronicities in this world. The universe (or at least Nature) is trying to tell us something.

Did the dental hygienist also tell you fluoride is poison?

Yes, I think the universe is always speaking to us....it's just that I didn't listen for years...now I do....smiles.
