Living From the Heart

Did you know that there is a whole science behind the heart/mind connection? Did you know that the heart has a larger electromagnetic field than the brain? That certain types of music affects the heart? I find all of these facts fascinating, and also important.

The human being begins as a heart, not a brain. Think about that. What is the first thing you see when you get that first sonogram picture? A little flickering heart! The body grows out of the heart.

We have bioelectromagnetic interactions between and within people, and our physiological systems are interacting in subtle ways. The electromagnetic signal produced by your heart can be measured in the brain waves of people around you.

We have been living in a state where everything we deem important comes from our brains. This has had devastating effects on our planet, people, other sentient beings. We've been told in all religions that love is the answer, yet most of us have no idea what that means. Our first instinct is for ourselves, protecting our ego, which is mind-based. And, I believe that's how it was meant to be - that by living in a dualistic world we have been able to learn the lessons we were meant to learn. Living from the brain/ego has allowed us to make all the mistakes we were meant to make.

But things are changing rapidly. For those of you who are reading this and resonating with what I am saying, let me say that I believe finding a way to live from the heart is our most important challenge. So if you've noticed me away from this space, or not commenting on yours, it's because this has become my focus for now.

For more information on this subject, go to Institute of HearthMath. For meditations on the heart go here.

Fascinating information and beautifully expressed (from the heart).

I agree with you completely. This has been my focus as well for the past several years. I find putting the theory into practice on a daily basis, sometimes challenging but always worthwhile and it does get easier as we train those new neural pathways! Great post.

Thanks for the links! I do find it fascinating that we develop from a heart first! I never thought of it that way. : )

Don't we need a better blend of heart and mind? Isn't the problem that we've been educated to listen too much to one and too little to the other?

Lydia - Thanks. :-)

kate i - Good to know! It really is a training.

Jen - Yes, we start as a heart!

Bruce - You are exactly right. We've all been trained to intellectualize and not trust our feelings, when maybe it should be the other way around.

I have recently been drawn to study Sufism, which is the mystical branch of Islam. Years ago I was attracted to it, and it's depicted by a winged heart. Now it is considered radical, why is that?? The heart cannot be denied.

I'm with Djan. The heart can't be denied. Great post, nancy!

I agree totally, Nancy.

The Sufi's do have beautiful way of living from the heart.

DJan - Tell us more!

Rob & Trish - I agree, and now with science backing it up - we find the heart has its own mind - separate from the cerebral cortex!

d page - I would love to know more about the Sufi's. They are now on my bucket list.

When I read at work, the Spirit people put their emotions in my heart to be passed on to their loved one. It is through my heart that I work both as a reader and as a human. I may not be articulate, but I 'feel' information and respond accordingly.
I have long hoped that peope would start to realise this and treat other people with a greater respect. You do not need to be academic to survive, but you do always need love.

Considering these days that so many people seem to have their brains located up their anal cavity, I think getting back to focusing on what our hearts are telling is a damn good thing to do.

Good food for thought, Nancy.

Wow! I can tell you that my late husband and I are truly, strongly and deeply connected from the heart. I feel it.
Will check out your links. Thanks for this.

Once again you've provided a very interesting post.

Brian - It's our next stage of evolution, I'm sure of it.

Natalie - Well said.

Jayne - Our brains have done their job, now on to the next stage.

JC - I'll be back to share what I learn.

Wendy - Very interesting you have this connection with your late husband - maybe the veil is thinner than we think.

susan - Coming from you - that is high praise! :-)

Here's a weird thing. Carol Bowman (Children's Past Lives) did a TV show the other night - on Oprah's channel. She was talking about the best case in the western world for reincarnation - James Leinenger. The neuroscientist on the show said, "Memories don't exist outside of the brain, so this entire case is bogus."
That's the kind of thinking that mainstream science brings us at this point in time.

Nancy said...

Trish & Rob - It is the mechanistic view of consciousness - and it is being left in the dust.

Natalie said...

How on earth could anyone dispute James' case???????
Truly, that is insane.
Gobsmacked.

Nancy said...

Natalie - Okay, now I have to investigate Jame's story..
