Toy Story Three

So off we went to the movie with our 21/2 year old grandson today. He is all things Toy Story, and transports his Buzz Lightyear and Woody everywhere he goes. What was surprising? The tears in my eyes at the end of the movie. I won't be a spoiler of endings - but just let me say - I'm glad I saved my older daughter's Polly Pockets and my younger daughter's Floppy Dolls.

Pulling them out of their boxes for my grandson to play with, and watching his mother enjoy her toys as much as he was, made hauling them around for three moves definitely worth it.

After all, toys are people too!

Ah, I loved Polly Pocket! My mom kept all of my stuff in storage when I went to boot camp 8 years ago. I just picked it up a few weeks ago and as I was going through it throwing stuff out she was saying "Give that to me I will keep it!" Except for one, nasty storage room bear. I just had to keep it and I'm sure it can be saved by the washing machine. Can't wait to see that movie. I love the first two.

My husband and I went to see it a few weeks ago and really enjoyed it. I kept only a few small things from my kids childhood. I wished I saved them but we did donate them to a woman's shelter so it went to a good cause.

I haven't seen the movies, and I don't know the characters, but I still have the Teddy Bear I got for my first Christmas, almost 65 years ago.

Does that count for anything?

I'm so glad you enjoyed the movie! I thought it was just wonderful. The parts I remember the most are the scenes where Andy is playing with the toys' new owner, it was so poignant and precious. Yep, Pixar sure knows how to make an animated movie for the kids and their parents!

I took one of my 12 yr old g'girls to see it this summer. We both liked it a lot more than we thought we would. The ending was good but I loved the sequence with Buzz switched to spanish mode trying to tango with Jessie. So funny.

I have been dragging toys and clothes around for 18 years. It gives me such pleasure to see Noah and Haylie play and wear the older children's things. It also gives the older children another view of their childhood. Instead of their experiential view, a view similar to how a parent sees their child at play. My older children also realise how much they are treasured, because I so treasure the little things that remind me of when they were small.

Toys are definitely people at our house. :D

we loved toy story 3! i think it was really the best of the three and it gave such a good "moral" story at the end.

i still have my original barbie doll - complete with earrings made from straight pins. lol! she still has her poufy hair do, painted nails, and heavy eye makeup. i've also saved a few things from my kids but they tended to really love their toys to pieces so sometimes not much left to save.

You're so smart to have saved those things, they'll be treasured for years to come.

Polly Pocket! Megan loved them. I wish I had saved them.

Am going to have to see the movie. So many people have recommended it.

Sadly, so many of today's toys are made so cheaply that they fall apart before you even get them out of the box - they'll never survive long enough to be passed on to the next generation.

Great movie. Best of the three by far.

Yes we had a family outing to Toy Story 3 and whilst Im unfamilar with Olly pockets some of the toys reminded me of childhood memories, now Im wondering which toys I should keep for the future.
My son told me Buzz Lightyear was a Spanish invention thats why they had him do the tango. So you live and learn.

Nancy, I have never seen any of the Toy Stories, but this summer have heard so much about all of that I'll now have to rent them from the beginning. I had no clue that they were so good.

My mother saved my dolls and my daughter enjoyed playing with them - complete with the home sewn clothes my mother made for them... now my grand littles play with them. My dad even made my "babies" a crib that I still have. Yes, you are right, toys are people too!

I cried at the end too. It was rather poignant, wasn't it? My daughter has yet to get seriously attached to any toys so I'm curious about what will eventually capture her interest.
