Travel Synchronicity

Hi everyone - it's good to be back. I'm looking forward to catching up. I was on a trip that didn't involve much fun, even though it was to a beautiful location.

Trish told me to watch for synchronicities while traveling, and sure enough I had a couple - involving actresses, of all things.

The night before leaving, I downloaded three movies for the long flights. Chloe, Date Night, and When In Rome.

The first movie I watched was Chloe, with Amanda Seyfried. It was a dark thriller, and had some serious sex scenes, which I had no idea would be part of the plot. As I was watching it, (and hoping the man next to me would remain sleeping, so as to not think me a perv,) I looked up and the same actress was in the movie Letters to Juliet being shown as the in-flight movie. In that movie she appeared to be playing a more demure role. Weird to watch her in a very dark role, only to look up and see her play what appeared to be a very sweet role. Even my husband was amused, and extremely curious about my movie, I might add...

On the way home, I decided to watch Date Night with Tina Fey. Just as I plugged into the movie, I looked up and the in-flight film was with Tina Fey in 30-Rock! So then I noticed in the movie I was watching one of the roles was played by the lead in a Netflix series I had in my bag, of which I had been catching up over the last week, and planned on watching the final episode after Date Night.

There are thousands of actresses - what are the odds?

I was all ready with the Kevin Bacon joke, and then I read Brian's comment. He beat me to it. Dang, I gotta get up earlier.

Most interesting. The Universe wants you to pay attention, I think.

Okay Brian, you totally took the Kevin Bacon six degrees of separation away from us all!

Welcome home! It's always nice to return after being away, even if you haven't lived in a place all that long. Brian must have left that comment right away to beat all the other guys to the punch.

I love it when that happens, and now I am intrigued with Chloe.....

That's pretty funny!

Amanda Seyfried is in a lot of movies all of a sudden. She started on the HBO series Big Love, then her big movie breakout was Mamma Mia!

Oh, I'm sorry you had to travel for a reason that wasn't very pleasant, Nancy, but at least you had some fun with Synchronicity, or perhaps Serendipity to keep you company.

A friend of mine always loads up a movie on the iphone/laptop/whatever electronic device she can lay hands on and told me about settling in to watch (I believe it was) Forgetting Sarah Marshall during a flight delay. Her headphones took that moment to decide to give up the ghost, and so she politely went to an uninhabited corner of the airport waiting area, and simply turned on the volume.

So I guess there's this long, long scene in the beginning of that movie that audibly is interchangeable with pure porn (as the protagonist runs around trying various methods aka other women of forgetting Sarah).

However, she felt secure that her volume was on low enough that no one would notice. After a few minutes, she glanced up, and stopped counting the affronted gazes at five before simply turning off the movie.

Acoustics. Sometimes they are not your friends :-)

brian's comment about six degrees is pretty funny -- but what a weird coincidence-

next time i travel i'm going to take your advice and download movies -- great idea -- beats what the airlines offer!

What did you think of the Chloe film, other than your discomfort with the sex scenes? (Were you discomfited by watched the sex scenes or being observed while you watched the sex scenes?) There was a newspaper story recently about the premise behind that movie: that women hire some young beauty to see if their husbands will be tempted into cheating.

Have to admit, that many years did pass since last I saw TV, can't even remember when the last time I went to a cinema as well. Yet, hope you are fine and that you are having a good Tuesday all.
