Things Grow in Unexpected Places

I was thinking today that we really need to focus our energy on what we want to see happen in our lives. We need to think about what we want. We need to plan it in our mind. Then on paper. Maybe then on a website, blog, book, or journal. In others words put it out there. We need to be clear about it's intention. Yet we need to be flexible in accepting what the universe offers up.

We need to be the creators of our lives.

Because things grow in unexpected places. Just give them a chance.

  1. Yes, I so agree. Thinking in Wicca; thoughts are energy so the way to make things happen is to manifest those thoughts. By thinking the thought, it takes up an existence and by writing it down (a spell), you acknowledge that you have thought it and given birth to it. So if you visualise yourself driving a new car or recovering from an illness, write your thoughts down and you will be surprised at the results.

  2. The title and photo for this post remind me of the truth in the trite, but true, axiom "Bloom where you're planted". I only recently discovered your blog, and have been going through some scary physical and emotional 'stuff'. Your posts, and some replies (6/22, 6/23, and especially 6/26)have helped...I thank you.

  3. I spend a lot of time day dreaming. But when I dream and fantasize about the life I want and the person I want to become, I think about it as if it is going to happen in the future. You are completely right that it works. I used to spend so much time being negative and I never improved. Now I spend so much time dreaming, but my dreams begin to unfold and materialize. I never thought I would have videos of myself on the internet playing the violin. It was a big thing for me, but also a first step in my journey. If it were not for my thoughts this would not have happened.

  4. Hubby has always done this and referred to is as "positive imaging". I'm afraid, sometimes, to "put it out there". Working on that myself.

  5. That beautiful arrangement certainly qualifies as "found art." A lovely picture and profound thought. I had a few minutes before I caught the bus today and wandered into the local pet store. They have gerbils and rats living their lives in small cages. I just happened to walk in while a gerbil was giving birth!! I watched in fascination and gave thanks for being serendipitously witnessing new life coming into the world. So I was the one in an unexpected place!

  9. It is beautiful how when you put it out there, and "own" it, it has a way of becoming you.

  11. Joanne said exactly my thoughts. By saying it, we become what we say. If not, we will never bloom.

  13. Brings to mind a phrase from "The Secret Garden"

Where you plant a rose my kad, a thistle cannot grow.

Think positive thoughts and it will help keep away the negative ones!

  14. Thank you. It was exactly what I needed to get beyond some personal doubts:)
LIfe is good and it is definitely good to be clear on your intentions.

  15. Absolutely. We have to get out of our own way. I'm always inwardly tickled when I think how far back "modern" thought goes. Fpr example intention/co-creation. I'm not much of a bible person but I sure do remember... "Ask and you shall receive."

Good advice resonates through the years.

  17. Lovely picture, and intriguing name for your blog, although "Life in the Second Half" could become "Life in the Last Third," ..."Last Quarter," "...Final Ten Minutes," and so forth. Well, come to think of it, how would you know? Even "second half" is based upon an assumption, maybe a reasonable assumption, but still an assumption

  20. "Because things grow in unexpected places."

Sometimes we don't even notice them for quite some time.

  23. Yes. Set the intention and wait for the Universe to bring it in the best way for us possible.

  24. absolutely love your post - in case you've not already, you MUST read lynne mctaggert's THE INTENTION EXPERIMENT - run, don't walk, to get a copy - i mention in some of my blogs my own experiences with intention - if you intend it you can be it do it feel it have it - it's all up to each of us individually - and this is something that has been empirically studied, as well - so please grab this book - you'll love it! and thanks for dropping by my place! jenean

  25. Yes my dear. You are right.
Writing gives a concrete touch to our feelings.
    Thanks for dropping in^_^
Even I agree that as human beings we have a duty to each other and we are nothing without our fellow beings.

  29. I am catching up on my favorite blogs and this is exactly where I needed to come and exactly what I needed to read. Drifting from one crisis to the other, feeling as if I don't have any choices in life and deep inside "knowing" that isn't the truth. I want to live with intention as well as awareness. I seem to fear committing myself to where I want to go and what I want to do because I fear failing and being disappointed. Thank you for sharing this very simple reminder that I am going to write on sticky notes and put where I can read often and remind myself to take responsibility for choosing what I want and where I want to manifest in my life.
