Goodwill is going to make a killing as we realize we no longer need all the wool we did while in Minnesota. I will miss wearing hats everywhere in the winter, however. I had some cute ones with flowers on the side that made everyone laugh every time I wore them...
Why did I ever think I needed so many scarves and spatulas? My husband has a plethora of white socks, and Lucy is amazed to find a whole tub of toys she'd forgotten about. The Internet is working, but not email. The invisible fence is in, but Lucy won't venture further than the door for fear we will leave her here, forever encased in this lovely tomb. So she's sticking close.I'm watching Ice Road Truckers in between boxes, and catching a blog here and there. Hope you have all have had a great weekend!

ReplyDeleteMust be fun going through those boxes. Pity about the hats, though. I'm starting now and, when I leave, everything in the kitchen cupboards will go to the Opp-shop and we'll buy new at the other end; that'll save a lot of packing! Enjoy your new place!

ReplyDeleteMy dad always got mad at my mom when they moved, because she waited until they were in the new house to get rid of a bunch of stuff. He always wanted to know why he had to pay to move it, if she was just going to toss it out later!
ReplyDeleteWe found out when we moved halfway across the U.S. and had all our stuff in storage while we lived in a small motel room that you really don't need much to exist. Food, a place to lay your head, and family and friends are all you really need. Glad you are slowly getting established in your new residence.

ReplyDeleteI thought that was what moving was for... getting rid of all the excess stuff that accumulates in our lives! There's nothing better than pulling something out that's been hiding in a box for a couple of years to know if you really need it or can do without! ;o)

ReplyDeleteWe're in the midst of sorting through stuff we've had stored for three years in order to be ready to move later this year. Clothes I'm not bothered about nor kitchen stuff either but the books.. I love my books.

ReplyDeleteToo funny! We'll have that same experience when we go through our stuff, and it's been in storage 5 years so far! And yes, we have clothes in there! Jim's suits will still be in style, but my dresses and such? I don't think so! I'm sure that when the time comes we, too, will laugh and look at things and say, "WHY THE HECK DID WE SAVE THIS?"

i love hats, but they look terrible on my head. i just don't have a "hat shaped" head at all and my hair is so fine that it looks awful when i take the hat off.

ReplyDeleteI don't plan on moving for awhile but I fantasize about it all the time and I get so overwhelmed just thinking about all the stuff I have. It's frightening. However, I do think that one can never have too many spatulas especaially if he spends a lot of time in the kitchen.
