My husband's new shoes arrived...

He can't understand my reluctance in going out to dinner with him and his new shoes.

A friend said her CEO came to work the other day in a similar pair - in his suit.

P.S. Thank you to Hilary for POTW "mention"!

  7. No, I understand your reluctance. They're awful! Men and taste for fashion... gah!

  8. OMG!! Those are so funny! They look like gardening socks...good for pulling weeds with your toes!

  9. These don't even look comfortable! And I had NO IDEA they even existed before this. I'll pass...

  10. I've heard about these shoes, and seen pictures, but don't know anyone who actually WEARS them. I suspect they wouldn't be that comfortable in our below-freezing weather.

  11. Now if they just had hair on them they would be Hobbit feet. I could never wear those. I don't even wear thongs (the footwear, not the panties tho I don't wear those either) cause I don't like the feel of stuff between my toes.

  12. There's a time and a place for everything, and that would NOT include time in a restaurant with me!

  13. Hey, better these shoes than a mistress or a new Italian sports car! Your husband has a great way of expressing his creative impulses in the 2nd half of his life. Kudos to him!

  22. I don't think so. My husband has really, really, big feet. He's 6'4", and he bought these ugly massive black shoes on a business trip once and I hate those damn shoes and wouldn't you know he loves them? I cannot imagine what he would look like in your husband's shoes! I hope those things are comfortable. lol.

  24. Let your husband know, he has created a husband-in-funky-toe-shoes epidemic. My husband says all he wants for his birthday, are those shoes pictured above. :O

  28. To answer a few questions about these crazy shoes: They're made by VIBRAM, and my husband ordered them online. They're good for any kind of outdoor sports. My daughter ordered a pair (different style) for her trip to Thailand, but she just informed me they're too small and she has to return them. Be sure to follow sizing charts. Most stores can't keep them in stock. We checked locally with REI and they said they can't keep them - they fly out the door! They were originally designed as deck shoes for boats - similar to the barefoot, but with traction and the ability to be a water shoe. My husband intends to run in them - after reading a book on barefoot running being better than running shoes with all of the padding. My daughter wanted them for walking, climbing, swimming, etc. I think I'll pass, I have enough problems being acceptable as it is. Ha

  32. Looks formal to me; here in Waikiki we mostly wear flip-flops though we call them "Slippahs" (Slippers).

    Toes rule!

  33. Those are down right hysterical looking. They are for real? If I saw a man wearing those with a suit I'd probably wet myself.

I couldn't wear them, myself, 'cause it would drive me crazy to feel that constant separation of my toes. Yuck!

  34. With a suit? A monkey suit, right? ;)

  35. Oh, my dear, just be thankful you are married to a forward thinking guy ...... even if it would appear that he is going ape!

    ReplyDelete
  36. They are just as ugly as the first time you posted them. I bet he will get a lot of attention wearing them!

    ReplyDelete
  37. Wow, I've never seen anything like these. I wouldn't want to go out to dinner if my husband was wearing those.

    ReplyDelete
  38. They look like gardening gloves -- for feet.

And, Nancy, you don't need some lame POTW to verify that you have a great blog. :-)

  39. Oh my goodness, those shoes make me want to yell, "Yabba dabba dooooo!"

They're really marvelous in their own way, aren't they? Also, the folks who invented Crocs -- those shoes much decried by the would-be fashion police as being too ugly to live (and of course, I own a pair of pink ones, that I wear frequently, because Nertz to them) -- are rubbing their hands in utter glee! "Take that, Tim Gunn!"

    Does he like them?

  40. Please let us know how he likes running in them. The jury is still out as to how suitable and safe they are for running... Remember Zola Budd? Perhaps if Zola had these shoes.....

  41. Shimp - Yes! He loves them! Geeze

  42. I cant see why you wouldnt want to go to dinner in those they are so "adorable" bahahahaahaahaha
