The Republican Party received a good spanking on Tuesday night. A well deserved spanking, I might add. Did they really think American women were going to go back into a 1950's box where old white men could fling billions at an election and tell us what we will and will not do with our bodies? Did they really think baby-boomer women, who fought hard for equal pay for equal work, the right to choose when they will bear children, would hand those rights over for their daughters?
I have never felt abortion was right for me, but I have no desire to make that decision for all women. Especially women who have been RAPED. As for insurance companies paying for contraception - why is it okay for them to pay for Viagra and not contraception? Men that want to be sexually active long after they are physically able to do so, without help, are more important than choosing when to bring a human being into the world? On what planet?
It's not like these same people will take care of the little babies once they're born. No, instead they want to cut funding for anything having to do with families, children, and education.
This spanking was long overdue. America's voting demographic is at least 52% women. It's time they start asking us what we want - not what they want to shove down our throats.
